Hey guys
I sailing on 4 sep man... it's gonna be very xiong for me. I kenna this post called Midshipman Logistics Officer. And sibei xiong one, my course officer say it's like 'hell-week', scare me to death man. But it's the type of position they put you in to 'prove your worth' type of thing. Wah lan, can't believe david han got it, but he good la cannot say anything but not exactly sociable, he once punched me in the stomach for touching his uniform with my finger and I was just really kidding around.
I'm really gonna miss the friends here but not the place... I'm really dreading yet eagerly anticipating the upcoming trip. Hope to see you guys really soon, got leave after the trip ;)

i juz burnt my previous weekend doing a 1000 word assignment.. so poor thing rite..
literally sat infront of the comp 10 hours straight..

and today..
my tutor came in to class..
and made my tut grp do ANOTHER assignment!!!!

and his reason is coz we did ADDED research on the case!

you wd initially think that we're hardworking..
BUT INSTEAD
my tutor got angry
coz he say we shdnt haf researched on the case
BUT THE THING IS he DID NOT SAY that we could not do RESEARCH!!!!!!!!

hey guys and girls.. just went to my first american uni party... the fraternities organised them, yeah even though the drinking age here is 21 but they just let us drink, they actually give freeflow of beer. they(the frat pple ) are pretty cool but they like stay together in theyir little house and they are super slobs!!
i do intend to hang out ablittle with them and attend their parties but i dun intend to join formally, dun like to live liike a bigger slob than i alreadi am. so u guys take care will update soon!!

hey people. its me and its 1 am here we are actually 12 hours behind u guys.haha my roommate just moved in. he is a relali nice american guy doing my major and he is a computer hardwarre expert. he even has his own online business.Well life here is pretty good. i just finished the freshman orientation for international students and tml thye regular orientation will start. well here is pretty cool coz its super super freedom. actually drinking and clubbing is only for over 21 and they are super strict u could get suspended for drinking, but then most uni parties have alcohol so yeah! but then pot (marijunna ) is like super super available you can get it anywhere. A frat house was suspended for growing pot in their basement. its more easily available than alcohol. actually a number of drugs are almost as easily available on drugs like E and another stimulant cannot remember its name. most students here have tried it , but they said i better not take coz i am a police man!! how ironic if i do! but i don't intend to take it coz its super bad for your health. well i cannot wait for school to start, but even though i have a schedule it will completely change beczuse i have got credits from A level that they have not given me yet. well i am settling down pretty well here the singapore students association has been very nice organised dinner for u and even volunteer to take us shopping. the weather here is pretty nice, its warm but not hot like singapore although its getting colder everyday. and its not realli humid but not dry either so its kind of a nice intermediate! ok hope to hear from you guys soon!! got togo now!! take care! and god blesS!!

To the girls who are feeling stressed by all the work and new surroundings all i have to say is that it isn't all that bad....

i always do this to myslef.. make myself experience undue pressure and panic and stress by doing last minute work.. haiz.. and the worst part is that i was given the assignment 2 weeks ago!..

heh.. now im telling myself that i will never leave work till the last minute again..but.. we all know that will never happen.. haha

hmm, in comparison to most of you.. boy! my life seems to be so boring.. not to mention it seems empty.. i'm only starting sch on e 19th and seriously, although e whole lot of frens keep saying it's nice to live such an idllyic life, i really don't think so.. it's not merely about feeling yourself turning into nothingness but it's also the feeling of uselessness tat comes with it that become so unbearable.. so.. good luck and all the best to everyone who are living their life to the max rite now! :) i'm really glad and happy for the whole lot of you! :)

hey guys.. well this is my last full day in singapore. kinda sad now given that i will only be on singapore soil for another 36 hours(my flight mon nite 1130 will be at airport at 925-930). just wanna say thanks for everything again. esp for the memories which i will take away for the rest of my lfe and even overseas.you guys have been great and i really miss the moments when we were all together during the bonding, the tough times and the real shitty ones. i will come here to update u guys on my progress over there and to share my experiences. thanks for everything. cya all in one year's time. take jolly good care. god bless

hi guys, greg reminded me of dis msg board, n i gt dis urge to come here at once, this is one other place where memories are kept, other than klssc, njc squash court, canoein table... hope we'll still tune in here every now n then to say something abt our own lives, n share our own adventures n experiences... i'll try n remember to come here often, n add a little something...

i gt 3 more weeks to the end of my radio specialist course, den i'll become a sergeant.. n either become an instructor/ a unit sergeant, which is a very lobo job. but this 3 weeks i'll have 24km route march, 40km navigation exercise, 4 other major exercises: map planning, defensive and offensive ops. Shiong! But puttin my head back into the books oso very shiong, so okay lah, give n take.. hope we all survive lah, hor? hah, duh.. ->greg: bye bye, dun sian too many ang mos bring back some for me.. hee. take care

Wah all your concerns seem so alien to me and I am sure practically all the guys except ben.Uni life is Quite interesting is rite?Just think about your NJ timetable.. It cannot possible get any worse. It seems that all of your are having a reasonably good time, while all the guys are busy serving the national making it safe and sovereign for all to enjoy, right at this very moment adrian is in taiwan rendering his services to the nation's defence. hope i will have as much to talk about when i am at uni. Only 5 days to go be4 i fly, and i really don't feel like going now, kinda really misss singapore. Its not really the place but the people, like all of you that has made my life so interesting and left me with so many great memories. SO Take care guys and i will update all of u periodically via the msg board!!

im seriously slacking at home now lah.. its 445 pm on a monday afternoon.. i had a lecture at 10-1130am then i came home coz my next lesson is at SIX pm.. sucks rite??
my timetable is horrendous.. damn spread out... but one thing good is that its onny 13 hours a week lah.. and its a 4 day week too :P haha...
the rest of the ppl i know are mugging in the library (its the 2nd week of sch only!!) and here i am watching tv and playing wif my nephew and surfing the net at home.. hah

I'm lagging in class too....argh....

Hi familiar people,
Well, it seems like its another cross-road for all of us. Seems not too long ago that I remember focusing on Ben's life jacket, following the swish-swish-swish of the paddles, seeing Jon and Raiyan to the left and Yong and someone else to the right... Not to mention that difficult period before and long after Nationals. I'm very glad we won both titles this year. I can finally tease Pius and Wee Meng...
Seems like, all of us going separate ways again. Some going, some staying, some gone... If I could I would wish everybody to appear right in front of me now and to tell you people that we'll always stick together. Wow, sometimes I tear when I think back on all those memories. Being stuck in SAFTI isn't something exactly very enjoyable of course. But certain experiences always pull you through.
Hope those in the unis will study hard and those going overseas will take care. To those in OCS: LPPL, suck thumb.

P.S. When I said slap on a bit of sophistication, I really meant to go get a really funky dress/gown, get a really stylo hairdo and femme-fatale makeup. And if no one is free, well...its bartender for me. And I will SNORT into someone's drink >:)

Ah...finally a msgboard of our own -- Njcanoeists 2000/2001.
Yea...don't really know how the response would be like but I also hope everyone will come here n drop a line or two once in a while...even after we graduate ya!

I'm still living in the moments of yesterday too...never felt so good before...it was like a dream yet it did come true with pain n hardwork...it was a tough fight alright i...n I truly think that both the girls n guys have come a long way...
To the girls...the road wasn't exactly smooth but we've all pulled through...all our fears of losing the title have been released...even tho' delphine, ruoying, jasmine n miaohua had to row for the junrs...we knew u guys cld have helped us win it too if u all were in the boat...u guys have proven it in other boats...so excellent job GirLs!!
To the guys...U all were amazing...simply formidable!(absolutely no flattery involved) n yesh...Mens' Open was The Race man...even tho u all went thru' sO many other races b4 that...it was crucial..it was fierce...but I'm sure it became an unforgettable n glorious fight for all of u...n for us all...U guys have done it man!
It certainly felt great too when both the girls n guys team came together for the mixed boats...
Never will it ever be the same again...n never can the moments be relived...but I'm glad all of us went through it together...that was the LasT dragon boat race...which brought us closer to the peak...but no...of cos our peak isn't reached yet...it's going to come on the 20th of July..we've done it with faith n confidence...we've set our targets n achieved them...I'm sure we can all do it again with the same kind of mindset n passion at the National Schools..!! Relive the moment in ur race n I'm sure all of us will be injected with many more loads of energy !!!

Although it was yesterday when we all felt our moment in time, it felt like it was juz awhile ago i saw our 24 men db cross the finishing line. I believe that besides winning the titles, we fostered closer bonds between all of us. I hope i'm not the only one who can feel that... What we achieved yesterday was not due to sheer luck, but because of our sweat and tears shed during training, because of all the things which we sacrificed. We must not forget the defeat we suffered in SDBA canoeing championships. Let's not let this go over our heads and work hard towards our ultimate goal - National Schools Canoeing Championships!

anyway, after weeks of packing and unpacking, falling sick along the process and all, it feels good to be almost done! my house is definitely much cleaner and habitable now. It's slowly turning into a home..Heh, gone are the boxes man! I'm now eating on a dining table and not on carton boxes anymore!! Hee, a bit mushy as this sound, i really learn to appreciate little little luxuries like warm water and even eletricity, furnitutre and music! :)

had u all been following the world cup? Anybody feel abit lost like me after the fever has died down on Sunday? I was at the padang and suntec fountain for the last few matches and the atmosphere was very good!It felt like National Day (esp when Korea played cos their supporters wore their jersey colour-RED). I have always been a Brazil fan...so I am very happy that they won! haha...their dribbling skills are superb rite? And I admire the fighting spirit of the Koreans! All the way to the end!

to xueying... i think i will make a decision after viewing all the sports k? Chris was asking us to look out for their booth to sign up for the wakeboarding course during the matriculation fair.

heyz.. havent been here for some time liaoz.. anyway.. sad that din see alot of you all at the gathering last sat.. our batch attendance SOOOOO pathetic can?? 7 gals and THREE guys onny... and ouur snr and super snr batch had like 20 each.. sheesh... we were superly outnumbered..

heyheyhey pple... wah kaoz.. the board like nobody come liaoz ah??? im in japan now... haf been here for about 1.5 weeks and still nobody come and say hi wan..where are you guys???? all died liaoz? was there an earthquake in singapore that i din know abt??? *touch wood*! haha

anyway.. me having a blast here in japan... the 1st week was actually with two other ex schoolmates from tkgs... joined a tour group.. went tokyo.. mt fuji... kyoto...osaka etc etc..

den a coupla days ago i joined my sis and mom in tokyo.. and staying for another week... went to disneyland and the new disneySEA and universal studios and even went to the shrine of the 1st Tokugawa Shogun in Nikko (i think only the history students will know what im talking about.. hahah :P)

weather here is SO great.. so nice and cooling.. unlike humid and hot singapore.. AND.. the guys here are reali good looking!!! :P

REALI LEH!!!.. everyone here dresses up real well.. and even the jap guys pluck their eyebrows wan leh!! nice nice.. i like :P
and in fashion now among the gals here is to wear a skirt OVER a pair of pants/jeans...

wah.. first time i saw it i thot it was damn ugly... but now i see it everyday so its quite normal looking.. heh..

i'm organising an outing but dunno how many of u will be interested to watch a jap movie titled PULSE. It's actually one of the movies screened for the singapore film festival.The date is 26 apr (friday)and it starts at midnight, venue is the cinema at shaw towers along beach road. Tickets are priced at $8.74 each.
synopsis : Kurasawa (the director) continues his exploration of alienation and isolation among youth found in his previious film, Cure. Young people know something eerie is happening when a computer analyst is found hanging dead in his room. They find a mysterious floppy disk in ihis possession and the contents reveal a program of real-time transmissions of people living their solitary lives. However, lingering in the midst of this is an eerie spirit.

Lucky thing i had the chinese new year break, if not i shudder at wat i would be... which i think is proven by the tone of the last msg that i posted here. AFter i read it again just now, i just realised it sounded so mechanical! Exactly the same words that i would tell a customer who called where the location of the shop is! Scary huh?

Although i've dropped chemistry...there are a few tips from my classmates, might be of some use...
If u pple have followed the list closely, Paper 1 should be well-fought.
Now talk about what to focus on for Paper 2:
>(i) Kinetics - all those concepts eg. empirical rate law matched rate law
of rds, Boltzmann plot to explain effect of catalyst and temperature on
rate(RJC Prelim P1 Qn), predict order from data analysis.
>Must do those listed questions WELL.
>
>(ii) Ideal Gases - Assumptions of KE Theory, CONDITIONS for ideality (ie.
high T or low P), FACTORS causing non-ideality (intermolecular forces and
size of particles) (RJC Prelim P2).
>Must do those listed questions WELL.
>
>(iii) Electrochemistry - Well since P1 have not appeared, now very likely
it would come out in P2 and MOST LIKELY IN TM P4 (where u need to do
calculations to substantiate the prediction of the reaction ie. calculate
Eo(cell) values, so Pls take note of the TM Qns that involved this type of
calculations).
>So concepts to take note- H2O2/MnO4- Ecell calculation, define std red
potential, draw Galanic cell set-up, determination of Avogadro's constant,
use Ecell to predict viability of reaction (REMEMBER "energetically feasible
under standard comditions" IMPORTANT)
>Must do those listed questions WELL.
>
>(iv) Periodicity - Again never come out!!!!!!! So take note for P2. Must
know how to explain the IE trend across the period (IMPORTANT CONCEPTS:
Penetrating power of orbitals, Interelectronic repulsion, Effective Nuclear
Charge), may ask to MAP-OUT the IE chart.
>Others - Know bonding, rxn with water, type of oxides, pH, mpt, structure,
solubility of oxides from Na to S (IMPORTANT: MUST KNOW HOW TO MAP-OUT THE
TREND!!!!!)
>Do the Qns WELL.
>
>(v) Group II - Again never come out!!!!!!! So take note for P2. Thermal
stabilities of carbonates or hydroxides, solubility of sulphates- Ksp
calculation- talk about dHsol= dHhyd - LE (actually this was tested in P1,
the one on AlF3 and AlCl3), differential rxn of the metal with water to give
basic solutions.
>
>For (iv) and (v), take note of the various REACTION EQUATIONS with proper
state symbols.
>
>(vi) Organic Chemistry - Since acidity have been tested, focus on basicity
ie amide, amine, phenylamine, electrophilic addition of alkene (remeber to
know the stability of carbocation which would result in different types of
produts formed ie. where the E+ would attack, if aq Br2 used then form
bromohydrin), electrophilic substitution of benzene (IMPORTANT: P1 DO NOT
HAVE BENZENE. SO MUST KNOW- the various directing effects of the gps ; the
reaction conditions to put in a gp onto the benzene ring, focus on
alkylation, nitration, halogenation including the generation of the E+ ; aq
Br2 for phenol and phenylamine), must know iodoform reaction, Fehlings and
Tollens equations for ALDEHYDE; must also know KMnO4 can be used to
determine the position of double bonds in alkene which would lead to the
elucidation of an organic structure; must know NaNO2/HCl/0oC test for 1o
amine and phenylamine; must know the test for phenol.

>Now since organic mechanism have not been tested, so take note of E+
addition and E+ substitution. Die die must know.
>
>Must do the list of Qns well.
>
>For P4, go according to the list given and PLS pay emphasis to usine Ecell
calculation to test for feasibility.
