• He was watching from the terrace of the big house, his father off visiting and attending to "matters" as per usual. Himself, he was reclined on a porch chair, watching proudly as the two most important women in his life displayed their skills. He was so proud of how far she'd come -- she was absolutely blossoming at their estate. He finally rose off of the porch, down the steps, and down to the stable, waiting for her to finish. • She rode the pony out of the arena and back towards the stables, her face lighting up when she saw him "Hey!" She dismounted elegantly and took her ponies reins, walking the rest of the distance towards him with the pony. "Did you get everything sorted for school?" • "Dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's today." He grinned, taking the reins from her for the pony and leaning to press a kiss to her cheek. "I can't get over how fantastic you look out there. I'm going to have to get some shots of that." He looked over his shoulder to his mother who was just cooling out her horse as he headed toward the stable with the horse. • She grinned a little at that, glancing back over her shoulder at his mother before tucking herself under his arm as he lead the horse inside, sneaking her arm around his waist easily and pulling off her hat with her free hand, shaking out her blonde locks. • "He's more resigned than anything, I think.." He said, sliding the mare into the crossties and going to uncinch her saddle. "I think my mom must have talked with him. He's not happy about it, but he's not completely against it anymore, well, not verbally anyways.." Sliding the saddle off of the palomino's back, he took it to the hook specifically for Lacey's things, she'd become something of a protege under his mother's supervision. • Lacey took up a brush from the grooming kit he had bought her for their four month 'aniversary', and began to brush the pony down thoroughly, glancing up to him as he spoke "Well thats progress... as soon as he see's how amazing you are at it he'll be behind you..." Mainly because he;d then be able to brag that his son was that very up and coming new photographer who had bundles of talent- but she didn;t voice that opinion. "But at least you've got your mom's support... she'd support you through anything..." Which was more than could be said for herself- but she had her brothers at least- she wasn;t alone. • He nodded thoughtfully, pulling the bridle easily off of the mare's face and hanging it up as well. "My mom would support me if I decided to walk across North America on my hands.. she'd ask me why first and then she'd be all for it." "So.. my mom and I were thinking.. we put our heads together, and we thought it would be nice to be able to enroll you in private school this fall. They've got an amazing scholarship program, and whatever wasn't covered by the scholarship, my mother wants to pay.." • She hesitated at that, faultering and glancing to him before glancing back to the horse, continuing to brush her down. "Thats really thoughtful.... but I can;t do it... " Not that she wouldn;t love to... but what the hell would she say to her brothers? the ones that where housing her and protecting her and feeding her... the ones to whom she had promised not to see ryan again.... • She got a little defensive when he spokea about his mother, frowning softly. She hated to disappoint- especially people she cared about- thats why this whole situation was so difficult- she hated betraying her brothers... but she couldnt be without him... and she would hate to dissappoint Eliza... but what could she do? "Well you shouldn;t have even told her I wanted to go.... then she wouldn't be disappointed... " She didn't pull out of his arms but she did glance away, her brow furrowed softly "I'm trying to do whats best for me, I'm trying... but its not all about me, my lifes more complicated than that." • He sighed, a bit resigned, but nodded. "I know... I wish things weren't so difficult for you, though." He pursed his lips, loosening his grip on her -- it was hard for him to understand her situation, even though he knew the story, knew the entire situation and had spent hours analyzing it and trying to figure out how to make things easier for her. "I didn't tell her you wanted to go.. I just told her you were getting home schooled. And it wasn't like I offered the information, she asked. She's really taken to you, babe. • She let out a soft sigh and softened, though she kept her bright gaze cast down, her hands moving to rest on his torso lightly, watching them idly "I know... I'm sorry... you know how much I'd love to go... but I just can't.... " She wasn;t sure what to do about Eliza... she half wanted to tell her everything- but she wasn't sure she could trust her... not in a sense that the woman would maliciously hurt her- but adults often had different ideas about what was best for kids... and she may think it was in the best interest of everyone to get her either into foster care or get the others 'found' and thrown back in juvi. • He nodded a little, taking a long breath and letting it out slowly before he took her face between his hands and dropped his lips to her hairline easily. "I know, I'm sorry. It just makes things more difficult for you if she's trying to meddle. She just wants as much good for you as I do." He tugged her a bit closer, thoughtfully. This was about as close as they'd ever come to an argument, ever -- and he liked it that way. "I know you want to make it all better... but you already are Ryan... school is just going to have to wait for a while thats all... hopefully as soon as I'm eighteen I can find a place to live where i wont get my brothers in trouble and I can go back to school and get it all done in a year." • He had been accused, at times, of caring too much. It was just the person that he was, he wanted to give her everything that she needed and wanted within his capability and his mother was the same way - though they were wealthy, his mother was involved in all sorts of charities and benefits, scholarships, and other sorts of things -- she wanted to ensure quality of life for the same people who shared the life she had before she'd come into money, and Ryan was the same way, only with lack of life experience as far as the hard life. He decided to leave their current conversation - it only got him worked up thinking about the situation that she was in and how she wouldn't allow for any real help. • She could tell he wasn't really satisfied with it, but there was little she could do- she would take the help if only she could but it was out of her hands too. She hated that he made her feel so guilty about this. She sighed and picked out a mane comb, moving tot he horses head and gently combing through her forlock, glimpsing over to him every now and then when she wasn't accepting sloppy kisses from the mares silky lips on her cheek, or returning them to the silken muzzle. It wasn't that he wanted "control" over her life or anything of the sort, he just wanted to provide her with the opportunities she deserved, that was about it. • "Just about five weeks I think... its so harsh for her... having to give it away and everything... and how she ended up pregnant... if my brothers had done that to me I don't know what I'd do..." Fact was though her brothers loved and cared about her way too much to ever out her in that situation- and she;d never get into it on her own - she had way too much self respect and she had too many ideals up in her head for that.
