She headed straight for Spencers stall and rubbed his nose as he hung his head over the stable door, pressing a kiss to his muzzle before opening his stable door and pouring the mixture into his corner manger. She pushed a hand under his rug and was content that he was nice and warm. They had all been clipped for the winter so they all had nice warm stable rugs and turn out rugs to keep them warm. She went down the row of stables while Ryan did the others, checking them and feeding them and giving them an affectionate rub or pat on their heads and necks.

  • He went up one side of the stable dumping grain in and she went up the other. When he was finished, he unrolled the hose and began to top off the water buckets fixed to the wall in each stall - this was an old hat routine, he had been helping his mother since he was five years old and old enough to pull the heavy rubber hose.
