  • She was still standing in the stall with Starbuck, a little taken aback by all the conversation and talk.. she paused.. looked the girl over from head to foot - surely she didn't have her own horse, probably just a lowly barn slave that wished she could afford horses and this was actually the only thing she could do to get close enough. • Lacey straightened a touch as she felt the girls critical and unimpressed gaze drag over the girl, and her brow furrowed a little in return, folding her arms under her chest- the tension thick enough to be cut by a knife as she watched the girl "Right." She wasn;t far wrong about not being able to afford horses- but the rest- she had no clue about. lacey was going to have some fun with this stuck up madam. • It was then that she turned her attention away from the straggly blonde in the aisle and back to the looming warmblood, removing his halter and pointing him in the direction of the water bucket hanging fresh in his stall. She brushed out of his stall to hang the halter and leadshank on a hook outside of his stall. // She made her way down the aisle, spotting the familiar form of Hailey - the daughter of one of her husband's stuffy rich friends. She had agreed to take her on because Hailey was a magnificent rider and had experienced much success with Starbuck - it would make her small stable look very good to have both her and Lacey, primary competitors out in the ring during the season, representing her. • Lacey returned the feeding schedual to the wall by the feed bins and flashed Eliza a smile as she entered the barn, grabbing Bellas halter and lead shank and heading to the paddock to bring her in. When she returned witht he pretty little palomino mare Eliza and Hailey were still talking. Eliza had told her about Hailey, how she was the daughter of one Mr Lowells friends and that she was a fantastic rider and would be an asset to the barn. Lacey was sure she was a fantastic rider- but the part about her being an asset here was argueable. • She knew Eliza was buttering her up, she knew exactly what this was all about -- she wasn't fooling herself about anything. "Have you met my protege yet? She's very promising and a great worker." • Lacey led Bella into her stall right next to Spencers, a smirk flickering over her lips as listened, putting Bella's stable rug on and hanging her turnout on the rug rack. "No... she hasn't had the pleasure yet." Lacey shot Eliza a glance, shaking her head at her just a touch, telling her not to give her away- Lacey would enjoy this. She was used to being treated like trash. She'd been raised on a trailer park- her mother was the town bike and her brothers had all been in Juvi- she was perfectly able to remain classy while people treated her like crap. • She raised a brow when she caught the tip of Lacey's head and nodded a little at her question. "Yeah, bring them in, hon, I'll probably give them a workout this afternoon, want to give them some time to digest." She finally released Hailey from her grasp as the girl peered in at the fine equine specimen that was Spencer. "So we'll set you up for a lesson three times a week, and you're welcome, of course, to come by anytime to hack or ride on your own, just be sure that you let Lacey or someone know if you're here and when you leave so you don't go missing and unnoticed." // She held off on her "we don't do trails" comment as she was absolutely certain that Liza wouldn't be interested in it. She was singleminded but still managed to be respectful.. or at least sneaky when it came to her elders. "Ah.. will do then." She offered a smile to Liza before stepping away from Spencer's stall.   • He was stood with his arms looped on the upper rail of the fence, his camera hanging at his side - he'd taken loads of shots and now he was just enjoying watching the ease with which she guided him through the course. A small smile played across his lips the whole time he watched her.. //She was just stopping by to see how Starbuck had made out - he could be tempermental and she wanted to keep an eye on him - she could see Ryan, the familiar figure from many family dinners with his back to her and noted the camera - he must be taking photos as a favor to his mother. Her own small smile spread across her lips as she made her way down, laying a hand on his arm. "Hey there, you.. long time no see, Ryran," She used a kid name that he would recognize. • Lacey had Spencer working like a dream beneath her, his paces spot on, his pace steady and collected between fences. She came around at a particularly nasty triple, an oxer leading into two parrallels but she kept him on task and focused and balanced throughout the combination, giving him a swit stroke as she set him up for the final fence. Eliza had a habit of presenting her with the most unapproachable fences so she wouldnt be suprised in the ring. She could feel Spencer backing off her leg a little, but a murmer in his ear and another strong coupled with her legs was all he needed to get him over the fence with perfect style and composure.     • A look of sheer pride crossed over his features as he took his attention away from Hailey for a moment to watch Lacey execute a difficult combination, and then back with his 'small smile' spread into a large one that cracked his face nearly in two. "That... is my girlfriend, Lacey." Pride was very evident in his voice. She raised a brow at his declaration and looked the girl over, her mind already working and grinding the wheels. • Lacey grinned as Eliza praised her faultess round and she headed towards the gate , jumping down off Spencer and running up her stirrups, leading him out of the ring as she unfastened her helmet, pulling it off and letting her blonde curls free as she headed over to Ryan and Hailey. She barely even glanced at Hailey as she leaned up to Ryan to kiss him, an excited grin lighting her pretty feautures "Did you see that? He was such a star!"   • Lacey merely smiled good naturedly at Haileys shock, leasing back into Ryan as he wound his arm around her shoulder, he needent make excuses for the girl or try and reasure Lacey- it really didn;t bother her. "Yes! I am... I finished highschool pretty early- and I'm only turning seventeen next week so finding a job to tide me over and help me start saving for Vetinary school was tough- so I'm working for 'Liza as an excersize rider and stable hand- I spend most my time here anyway and she thinks its important to my riding that I get the oppertunity to ride a range of different horses so I don't get habitual and lazy." She smiled and scrunched her nose a touch "You know how it is." She turned back to Ryan and smiled brightly "Come for a walk with me doen the trails so I can walk Spence off?" • He positively beamed as Lacey listed off her achievements - she had come so far in so little time - he was proud of the person she was becoming and the one she was going to be when this all ended up - and she was so graceful about the way she handled Hailey. "Sure babe.." He dismissed them from Hailey's presence, who stormed off with a bit of a huff. He took Spencer's reins from Lacey's fingers, leading him on. "She's always been like that.
