Subject: She took the girl up in her arms even closer and rubbed her hands down her arms reassuringly. "Oh honey, I don't need any thanks. Seeing you excel and grow as a young woman is thanks enough." It was typical mother figure banter, but she meant it so much it nearly hurt. This girl had broken her heart when she'd first arrived, and she suspected there was much more to the entire story than what she was seeing. He finally emerged from his room, a little embarrassed but none the worse for wear, but kept back, keeping from intruding rudely on the moment that his mother and the love of his life were having.

She was trying to be upbeat about her birthday- but in all honesty she would rather ignore it and treat it like any other day- but she knew Ryan and Eliza wouldnt let her get away with that.
