Subject: The Blade, the Vatican, and The Maid: Questions in need of some insight, some speculation

Two questions:

1.) Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431, the Vatican claimed the Blade after that, only letting it out "in dire situations" for the next 500 years (1931), per Msgnr. Bellamy in "Legion," at which time it was given to Hitler to seal a pre-war deal with the then-Pope. Then, the Vatican wanted the Blade back, knew that Pez had it.

In the interim between 1931 and Pez, (do you suppose) did the Vatican pursue its 'recapture'? Do you imagine that KI had a "deal" of his own with the Vatican, or is Irons just too big for even the Vatican to take on, in demanding the Blade's return? Or, only that the Vatican was not pleased with Pez having it, but might have settled had it come to be on someone else's wrist?

2.) Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431, by all accounts (at least ones that I know of) childless. The Blade (in the TV-verse, anyway) follows a certain bloodline, yes? Well, 500 years later, how does Joan manage to have offspring (Bronte and then Pez)?

Or, was Joan not a true wielder (though we see her with Pez's face), and bloodline the Blade follows is someone else's?

Or, must we believe either, a.) the line it followed is Joan's, but an indirect line, as that of a brother or sister of hers, OR, b.) that Joan had a child, about whom history is silent?

Thoughts?
