Post 329 A: Political Thievery

First a correction: On my last, Post 328 A:, on line 25 I listed Gregor Dhu MacGregor as "(MacCutquheir or Keyletter)" it should have been (MacCutquheir in keyletter).

On we go:
We State of Alabama employees are set to be receiving a 'supposed' 5% raise. This is going to be a "merit raise", in other words sort of a butt kissing raise, instead of a 'Step Raise' we should be getting. We're supposed to receive a step raise every 6 months. We haven't received a step raise in 12 years; ever since the Republican governors were swept into office after charges were trumped up against former governor Don Segalman for something that had never before been considered a crime.

Do you remember the old stories of miners and their relationship to the 'Company Store'? The miners would be paid in company script, which could only be used at the company store. No where else, not in another town or any other store where the prices might be lower could they be used. The prices at the company store would always be two to three times higher than they would be anywhere else. Thereby keeping the miners on the very edge of poverty and not able to save anything.

Something very much like that is happening in Alabama to State Employees. We are to receive a 5% 'merit raise'. But the price we pay for our Health Insurance is going up at least as much if not more that the little piddly 5% raise. Thereby taking every thing we will be getting and then some.

Had we gotten our step raises every 6 months that we were supposed to get we would be making a full 33% more that we're currently making. That's a full one third more in pay. That's how much we as state workers have been injured by Republican governors elected by ignorant people who only watch Fox News and listen to Rush Limbough; and who don't bother to pay attention to issues and don't understand when they themselves are being screwed by electing Businessmen who are going to pad their own pockets and help wealthy mega corporations at the price of taxing to death the poor and middle class. For a cut of the action, of course.

Just thought you might like to know in case some idiot tell you we're "on the dole". The jobs we State Employees do range from monotonous to out right Dangerous. And we do it for a cost to the average state taxpayer of less that 5%. A private company, in case you're interested, typically costs the taxpayer 26%. So there you go, you're getting a bargain at our expense.

I recently celebrated my 55th birthday. I was going to buy for myself a ring with a Viking Ship motif. Something to celebrate my Viking Heritage. I found a very nice ring being advertised by a place online from Goodman Wisconsin called northerngoodies. I found out too late that fraudulent practices were afoot. Products people had ordered were reported as having not been sent or delivered. One fellow even reported that he had his identification stolen. Another that extra charges were made on his credit card. I tell you this only to give you warning. Do everyone else a favor and pass the word. Ask your friends to pass the word. Somebody who operates like this has no business being on the web. If I file a small claims case against him it's going to cost me as much as the ring did.

Until next time, be safe.
