Legitimate: [Middle English, born in Wedlock]
(1.) Being in compliance with the law. LAWFUL.
(2.) Being in accordance with established or accepted patterns and standards.
(3.) Based on logical reasoning.
(4.) Genuine

Marriage came about initially as a property right to a female. Later as religion came into vogue, marriage became shrouded with the trappings of mysticism. Mystical it may have seemed. But paternity was anything but certain in the time before DNA. In those early times a legal document of marriage was the only thing that could be used as evidence of paternity. Now there is DNA which makes the idea of illegitimacy moot.

If a child born out of wedlock is unlawful, by all means point out the law the child has broken. What sort of punishment would you heap upon the shoulders of the newborn, and why? In the past the punishment was to be bared from inheriting his/her parents property. One can only assume this was to give the said property to the "lawful" heirs, or other family members. If identification was the issue, DNA solves that problem. This would only be an issue for the father. Most women know if they have had a child. Thus disinheritance from the mother's line would have or should have never been an issue.

The idea of illegitimacy came into being under the old defunct and discredited idea of religion. Religion being an old definition of a replacement for science, history, morality and origin of Man. Why should we accept its failed concept of "legitimacy"? Why should we accept the ideas of a document (Bible) hundreds of years old and out of date. The document, the Bible, dated to a time when ancient man thought the sun revolved around the Earth and the world was flat. Why should we accept this old idea instead of modern DNA?

The idea of illegitimacy is only now used by those who wish to pigeonhole someone in order to disinherit them or deny them something owed to them. As to knowing who our parents are, none of us do. Does a child of one day old know who it's parents are? We are taught who our parent are. A mother almost always knows her child. Before DNA a father could only speculate. Despite ancient, archaic religious based monarchies the world does not operate by a system of primogeniture.

In the present day DNA enlighten world many a false paternity has come to light. Most notable are the DNA's of the "five anonymous living donors, all members of the extended family of the present Duke of Beaufort, who claim descent from both the Plantagenets and Tudors through the children of John of Gaunt,"... "the present Queen may not be descended from John of Gaunt and Edward III, the lineage on which the Tudors claim to the throne originated." - The Gaurdian

There is also the evidence that was found in an English cathedral's records that was shown on a T.V. program in 2004 called 'The Real Monarch of Britain' by Tony Robinson, in which it was discovered that Richard, Duke of York, son of Richard Conishburgh, Earl of Cambridge and Anne Mortimer, 1411-1460, was 100 miles away fighting in France when his wife, Cicely Neville became pregnant. It was known that she was have an illicit relationship with an English Archer by the name of Blaybourne. The child of the illicit union was Edward IV, King of England. The King that never should have been. He did have a right to his mother's title and possessions though, as Count of Westmorland. The video is available for viewing for free on youtube.

The daughter of Edward IV was Elizabeth. As a descendant of John of Gaunt (which is now known that she really wasn't) she married the known to be illegitimate Edward VII, king of England. Her marriage to him was to give his reign legitimacy with her descent from John of Gaunt.

Thus the reigning Queen Elizabeth II does have an illegitimate right to rule through her descent from Edward VII.

The now defunct monarchy of the Bourbon line of French Kings is no different. The present DNA of its present members does not match that of blood believed to be from Louis XVI, and the DNA of a head believed to be that of Henri IV. See dienekes.blogspot.

So there you have it. If legitimacy is the test. None of the present monarchies pass muster. Save one, The Grand Royal Sovereign Princedom and Grand Archduchy of Doggerland.

End post 354 A: Sir Michael D. Barnes is teltalheart, a.k.a. Grand Archduke and Grand Prince of Doggerland.
