Subject: Not so random thoughts 2.

Stupid people piss me off.

There's more than one type of stupid person, as well ... There's (ugh) categories of them.

1. Hick stupid: These are the kinds of people that can hear a joke one week and figure it out next week. These people just plain don't know any better. They have no great aspirations in life and if Darwin had his way, they would have been weeded out long ago if natural selection were still a factor in today's society of technology and welfare.

2. Thief stupid: People that think they know the way the system works and think they can beat the system as it works. They don't have a real clue as to how the machinery works, but they try to bend a gear here or mould a gear there and can't fathom why it won't work. The place for these people is prison. You can't cheat the system, you have to work within the bounds set up long ago or get out of the way of progress.

3. Stupid savant: This is the type of person that is a novice to something and thinks they can do it like an experienced pro. They have a suggestion for everything. They have a theory for everything. They have an inherited saying for everything. They don't know how a pro can do it, but they think they can manage to do it as well. They can't. Unfortunately, their ego about their intelligence is far beyond what their intelligence is and if you show them the slightest hint of their inferiority in intelligence, they tend to a) balk and b) dismiss any attempts by you to enlighten their point of view because they "already know".

4. Clumsy stupid: (I'm guilty of this myself sometimes) You were shown how to do something, you know how to do something, but somewhere along the lines of doing that thing, you missed a semi to fully crucial aspect of the process. By missing that step, every further step you take without correcting the error just compounds the error so that by the time you are done, it's a completely botched job that has to be done from scratch. Unfortunately, 50% or less of the time are you able to catch the mistake the second time around and it may take as many as four times to get it right. Oh, and if you don't use the knowledge gleaned from finding and fixing the error, then a couple weeks later, you will have remembered about the screw-up, but not the exact method of fixing it as it happens again.

5. Educationally stupid: Knowledge is power and there are many ways to gain more power. For example, a half full glass can be dealt with in three ways: 1) leave it half full, 2) add more water to make it more full, 3) throw in a rock to make it *look* more full. The illusion of intelligence is not a good thing since you will later be asked something that is beyond your scope. Unfortunately, too many people choose the rock.

Technological buzz words are just rocks.

"Hi, I have a computer. It's a rock MHz Pentium rock with rock RAM and a rock Gigabyte HD and a rock modem."
Translation: Bask in my full water glass.

"Hi, I have a computer and I can fix almost every problem that I have with it on my own. I can use it to accomplish many tasks."
Translation: My glass may be 3/4 full, but it's not too hard to fill it the rest of the way and then get a bigger glass.

Basically, I need a big gun and an "I shoot stupid people." t-shirt.

Maybe I'll just get the shirt printed and laugh at how many people cringe when they read it.
