To see those people celebrating in the streets over the loss of thousands of American lives, stunned me.

This is what scares me. These people don't know any differently. They have been told that the people in the USA are cold-hearted, unfeeling, power-hungry, etc. They've been told that all we want is to tell others what to do.

If that was all you'd heard and had no access to learn anything else, you might believe it, too.

Had the dice rolled differently, I might've been a Muslim mom in a Middle Eastern country. I might've had a son who got caught up in this frenzy of madness. I might not be educated enough to teach him anything differently. He might've been one of those hijackers. Then, I'd be sitting in my house, hysterical over his death, and wondering when the attacks would come that would kill the rest of my family.

Make no mistake. There must be payment made for what was done. It must be severe. I believe in an eye for an eye. But, my heart grieves for every parent who is innocent of foul play and malice.

If only there was a way to get the folks who are responsible and spare those who are not.
