My neighbor has a tree that is dying that I noticed for the first time today.

I have seen you
And yet,
I see you for the first time.
Once you provided a home
For the birds
And you flourished.
In the spring and summer
And dutifully shed your leaves
In the autumn of the year
And waited for spring
During the frigid months
Of the winter.
Now,
You are dying.
Your bark is shedding away.
Some will think you will
Make fine firewod
And forget what you were.
