I wonder if a tree knows that its dying through its own chemistry; or, is it more like a meaningless existance without any awareness? Just a strange thought.

I like how you closed this poem,
"...and forget what you were."
I misread the line the first time and thought it said,
"...and forget that you were." I thought that was a cool line as well, they both leave a profound thought to the reader.
