I still remember that dawn’s first kiss
Tingling for hours a bittersweet bliss.
Knowing it ended as shadows did form
Darkness stretched light, hearts now torn.
Talking for hours till the peak of four a.m.
Confessing our pains that festered within.
Looking up at the stars, sharing life’s encounter
Words transcending conversation’s sweet rapture.
Innocent enough we said our hellos
After closing, one night, the traveling show.
We each had to travel roads of gravel and dirt
Summer stretched and yawn a terrible hurt.
We never evolved from that dawn’s kiss.
I used to wonder of the twilights we did miss.
But, the morning has faded and night’s destroyed dawn.
Shadows erupted and the memory’s nearly gone.
