Such a nice day to be sitting here
you and me in our wicker chair
Lovely blue sky above our head
chirping baby bird, get out of bed
Momma flies in with a fat juicy meal
open your mouth wide or it's no deal
Look at the clouds as they float on by
a passenger jet streaks across the sky
Going who knows where or where with whom
I pray they truly get there safe from any gloom
I hear the dog barking in the neighbor's yard
sounds like he's playing rough and hard
That old cat chases the bird in the road
but he's a fat old cat and carries a load
see the breeze sway the tree top
causing all the leaves to drop
I let out a sigh or two for my satisfactions
relaxed am I with all these distractions
So much activity rolled in one day
so overwhelming sometimes, I'd say
It fills me with joy to see all creation
I feel compelled to give you my observation
I talked and I talked, seemingly forever
not one response came from you ever
I looked your way my, excitement to share
but you fell asleep in your wicker chair
this was to be one of our quality times
to share life's rhythms and rhymes
Another lost moment, a day of no cares
we're just two shadows in wicker chairs
