..."Der gigantische Wostoksee unter dem dicken Eis der �stlichen Antarktis bleibt noch ein weiteres Jahr unber�hrt. Am 6. Februar hat die russische Bohrmannschaft, die seit November behutsam ein Loch in den ostantarktischen Eisschild bohrte, die Arbeiten f�r diese Saison eingestellt.

�Das Ende des S�dsommers kommt, und sie mussten ihr Flugzeug zur�ck zur Progress-Station an der antarktischen K�ste erreichen�, berichtet Antarktisexperte John Priscu von der Montana State University. Nur rund 30 Meter fehlten den Russen noch, eine Winzigkeit angesichts des 3.750 Meter dicken Eispanzers. Geplant war es anders, so Priscu, �aber die Bohrung verlief langsamer als gedacht."...
