Subject: "I'm walking." He stated again, shifting to stretch out his leg, his teeth clenching for a moment at the sharp stab of pain that ran up it whenever he was sitting for more than a couple of minutes at a time. He quickly finished off the drink he had, pushing the glass towards her for one more drink before they closed - he had a bottle waiting for him at home so he wasn't to desperate for that last drink but he may as well get it done with. His eyes lifted to gaze into hers for a moment, struck again by the innocence and light there. His gaze dropped at that thought, her light only made him feel more dark. His jaw clenched a little, his head cocked to the side as he let out a low breath to regulate the pain in his leg.

  • The agitation that crossed his features was so brief that it was virtually unnoticeable and so she wasn't even sure if she had seen it, so she had no problem pretending that she hadn't. She nodded a little at his confirmation that he was walking and slid one final drink to him. "Me too." Not that it really mattered, it was just an absent comment. She smiled a little once more before disappearing again to tend to the sudden wave of customers who showed up for refills before they shut the bar down. Once everyone else had been taken care of, she stopped in front of him one final time. "Need anything else, honey?" She was ready to get things cleaned up and head home herself - one slow nights she tried to sneak out of there a couple minutes early so she didn't have to walk home after everyone had been kicked out of all the clubs around. It was more peaceful when she wasn't joined by hoards of drunken men and women. (NT) -- Taylor, Mon, Sep 25 2006, 12:42am PDT
