[> [> [> Subject: She stated : support cultural diversity & in their united proposal, they stated: will agitate for discrimination affairs. That makes me confused, thought that they also act for gay group. That's kind of tricky to get votes but not hv to perform obligations right? I personally don't like this way much. Nothing to say la!!AI , bye !! see u no more, self-fish politician!!

i don't think i know about politics any more than you do, but my feeling is that there are "rules" to the games of politics (just like there are "rules" in the show biz). it would seem rather foolish to out yourself as gay/lesbian when your political career hasn't even started, cuz (i know it's not pc to say so, but you can't say it's not true) it would put a lot of str8 ppl off from voting for you if they know u are a dyke. similarly, when leslie cheung first entered the show biz, he never claimed to be gay or bisexual (cuz that would kill his career right from the start); but when he has reached that unshakable height, he has the asset to come out, and he did! and far as i know, he had also contributed his monetary resources, time & effort to help some queer/aids groups (eg chi heng). my point is, don't be so harsh on any budding queer public figure (whether they are politicians or show biz artistes), after all, they need to survive the first round b4 they can contribute to the queer community. moreover, sexuality is merely one aspect of a person, why should one always carry that label around wherever one goes??

I really thx so much for those working for queers, especially those working for queers in HK , it is much difficult for them than for those working elsewhere in the world eg US,Canada. Cos' the hindrance to the work is great. Those working for queers are ordinary people who need to earn a life for money, they all know that once they were "OUT" to a 100%, all problems could arised. They have to face lots of comments, they will be condemned in work also. Luckily, some people got a job that the management is much open-minded.I personally suffered discrimination also, who can stand out here and say that they have never? I am sure --NO ONE. Unless they hide well, or appearence do not look so TB , they could have faced all. Unfairness in the society in this area is big. Poor to see that.
