cyl. blocks -- Justin Roseberry, 20:53:51 11/20/02 Wed [1]
just a little food for thought, the chevies at 9.8 deck are at a disadvantage to the 10.3 deck of the fords and the 10.7 deck of the dodges, it doesn't seem fair to limit the rod length when others can benifit from the taller deck. It is my opinion that the 10.2 deck chevy block be permitted, I think it will make a more fair playing ground for everyone, and no for those wondering I am not of the bowtie camp, I race fords, 557 c.i. in a 89 probe, I sure am sorry I could not make it to your show, maybe some next year, good luck, Justin.

Interesting -- Mark, 19:17:56 11/19/02 Tue [1]
I was looking over ther race results and thought I'd pass on the most interesting stats. The field of 22 was made up of 18 BB and 6 SB. The fastest BB and No. 1 qualifier was Baldwin @ 5.15. The fastest SB and No. 3 qualifier was Faerman @ 5.24. There was one car in the teens, 5 in the .20's, 8 made passes in the .30's, the rest were spread in the .40's and .50's. The eventual winner qualified No. 9 and never ran faster than a .35 which was representative of the majority of the cars in the field. Also, the finals included one BB and one SB. Pretty interesting. I suppose it would show that anything can happen in this sport and everyone has a chance. Being fastest doesn't guarantee anything and a little luck goes a long way. Just food for thought guys.

The 18 degree small block that was in Robert Faermans car is for sale! Complete from the carbs to the pan we ran a best of 5.24 with tire spin. This is a very nice piece and makes a ton of power and has a total of 10 passes on it since being freshed up at Faerman machine. Why settle for the back of the pack? Dont miss this one!

John, whats the story with the '55? Did you look at it? (under the hood) What weight did it run at? Whats head/intake/carb combo was it?

- The '55 had a Reher-Morrison 555 for power. It had 2 carbs on a tunnel ram and carried 2600#. For what it's worth, I did look, and if you doubt it, you should have followed me around. Starting with the first race of 2003, we will pull hoods and check everything that is pertinant to the rules. This was a test and tune race for all of us, and we just tried to let as many racers as we could get a taste. Feedback so far has been excellent! Which car were you with? - You forgot to answer the question about what heads it had..... -- also curious, 09:12:49 11/19/02 Tue
- I was not with a car, YET. Considering on playing next year. Yes, please tell us what heads were on it and also was it a tall block? I understand that it was a test session for the club, but as a potential new player just trying to get info on cars that were there and monitor the game. Maybe would be easier to post the questionaire from each car that teched, then we could read for ourselves. (NT) -- curious, 11:49:06 11/19/02 Tue
- It don't matter at this point if he really had a RM 555 in there the SB guys need a little help to keep up @ 2600 lbs it had to be making 1050hp thats 1.89 Hp per inch thats not out of reach at all with 2x4s plus the guy never even had to open the hood that should show you guys it can be done. By the way good job Mr. 55 sorry dont know his name. (NT) -- Salsberry, 14:16:17 11/19/02 Tue

- THE '55 has Dart 355s on it for cyl. heads. -- Spectator, 11:34:01 11/20/02 Wed
- I know it had a sheet metal manifold and 2 carbs. He weighed 2600# every round. I did not make any assumptions. I looked. The older 555's came with the Dart head. the new ones have Pro 1's. As I have said, we will P&G anything we think needs it next year, and anything that you racers put up protest $ against. The 55 was just freshened up by Hans, as I understand it, and possibly he stepped it up a little. At the first event next year, look for a much stronger tech. This was just a test flight, and almost everyone thought it was ok. Just a few of you who have a problem with some of our antics. (NT) -- John Harrison, 12:31:21 11/20/02 Wed
- This is what is really under the hood!! It is a 555 with -2 Brodix heads. The motor was gone through by Hans just to make sure it was all good to go, as it had sat for a while. It was not hopped up any! It was great racing with you guys, and I am looking forward to running the whole season next year. We will be making some changes so we can run at 2450lbs, and we will be legal, just as we were at this race. Thanks for the interest! -- David Baldwin, 20:48:12 11/20/02 Wed

It was presented to all who questioned my call that if they came and protested the call, I would give Warren his entry fee back, and give him $100 out of MY POCKET to reimburse his expenses. I also told Warren and his sons the same. They said they would abide by whatever we decided...nobody came forward. Case closed.

Just want to know how a few days before the race the folowing post was made, but the car showed anyway? What happened to teching cars (it's more than weighing and taking honesty for granted). No one ever saw the hood off the '55. Would have been easy enough to take a look. Was it short deck, tall deck, big chief heads, etc? It was fast as hell and just wondering what it was?

- ROADSTERS -- RICK H. (OCR), 14:59:16 11/18/02 Mon [1]
No offense to the Womacks, as they are a class act, but a roadster does not represent the true nature of the class. Door cars are door cars and are close in appearance to actual pro stocks. A roadster, as pretty as they may be don't fit the profile. You don't see any dragsters in super gas even though you might be able to add enough weight. Just a thought. Thanks for listening.

TPSA Bodystyles -- Jonathan Womack, 10:16:52 11/18/02 Mon [1]
Why would you have to let the '27 roadsters run if you were to allow full body roadsters like ours?
[ Post a Reply to this Message ][Edit]
- TPSA and body styles -- John Harrison, 10:07:18 11/18/02 Mon [2]
Our original concept for this class was to present cars that resembled real pro stocks. I take full responsibility for allowing the Corvette roadster to participate at this race. Warren Womack called and told me what he had and I told him that if he could make the weight, he could race.
We wanted to present as big a field of cars as we could to get a feel for who and what was out there. We got a terrific response! Jon Womack drove a good race and got a couple of breaks when the '55 red lighted in the semi's and Robert Faerman had driveline trouble in the final. Jon ran from 5.33 to 5.37 in eliminations and was not the fastest car by any means. I congratulate him on his win and am proud of his fine attitude and sportsmanship.
For next year, we are (as I have said repeatedly) sending out rules questionaires for everyone to fill out, and will post a link on the web site to download the form. If you don't make your wishes known to us, you will have no place to gripe about the rules we post. This is all about a fair, level playing field for all, and we welcome your (rational) suggestions and will consider all.
As to the allowance of the full bodied roadster types racing with us next year, this is still up for consideration. If we allow cars like the Corvette, we would also have to allow other types of full bodied roadsters like the '27s and such. We look for racer input here and will consider whatever the majority wants.
We want everyone to have fun here and this is our ultimate aim.
Thanks again for your support! We are very pleased!
John Harrison

Had a wonderful time out there on sat. Everyone was realy nice that I had talked to. Wanted to think my dad for letting me pilot his hot rod. You would think that a .403 light would get you a few rounds, but it didn't. Pretty much all the races I saw were real close. Also thinks Mark for the extra 25#'s of weight I needed, to play. Over-all had a great time. Looking forward to seeing more.

Chad and myself would like to thank TSPA for a great event.
We came out on Fri. to test. The car wnt a 5.35 with a ton of humidity. Unfortunately we only went a 5.35 without the humidity, Go figure. Anyway, I had to leave my car in the more than capable hands of Chad, who's worst light was a .417. He had Bucky int the first round. Chad had a .403 to Buckys .402. That small block just outran my rat. But that kind of racing is why we do this stuff. Maybe next time we won't get waxed by a little block. Hats off to the organizers and anyone who puts a sbc together with that kind of hp.

Everyone I spoke with told me how much fun it was and how they couldn't wait to do it again. Well, with support like we had yesterday, I can assure you we will have a great program next year. Really enjoyed meeting everyone and stay tuned for updated web pages and pics from the race.

I had a great time racing with yall guys and everyone i meet was super nice. I hope we get to do this again i will be there. I know my car did not run the number maybe it will next time. There were some realy nice cars out there and i am gald i was able to be part of the show. I pretty sure we put a better show than the pro mods did close racing and everyone getting down the the track. I can not stress enough how much fun it was. I think alot of it had to do with how nice everyone was. Thanks to the guy that help me weld up that bracket that broke. I thought that it was well organized and every racer in the TPSA had there sh#t together. That makes a difference.

Had a great time racing -- Little Womack, 18:49:49 11/17/02 Sun [8]
Had a great time racing yesterday! Would like to thank everyone who put the race on and letting us compete. I know there was alot of people who didn't like us running our car. Sorry to have started any commotion, however, as you guys review the rules for next year, I would hope our car will be allowed to run.

- well at 1st I was upset that a roadster was allowed to run in a door slammer class but after I have thought about it. It's no big deal to me as long as they dont start allowing all the raodsters in but the ones that look like a car such as yours and Rocky's I dont really have a problem with. I do know one thing you are one drivin SOB. Go back to super gas Please LOL (NT) -- slaw ass no light cuttin racer, 20:06:09 11/17/02 Sun
- Well, since its started I will post my 2 cents. First off, THIS IS NOT PERSONAL, just has to do with car. It is true that the car can carry legal weight and is for the most part same as everybody else, however the roadster has less frontal area, thus the drag coefficient is less. I know this is probably minimal, but it is one more piece to the overall equation of fast. Also, I believe delay boxes are an advantage ( only for those who have a car that will go red). - Pro Stock Association race results -- John Harrison, 14:33:29 11/17/02 Sun [7]
We had a hell of a show! We would like to thank everyone who came and raced with us. We truly appreciate your support! We had 22 entries and had 19 cars come to the line for 1st round.
After the smoke cleared, Jon Womack came away with the victory over Robert Faerman who suffered apparent driveline problems shortly after the launch.
The times were as close a spread as we had hoped, and the majority of the cars were bunched in the mid 5.20s to mid 5.30s. We had cars from almost everywhere and were really pleased with the variety of cars. As soon as possible, we will post qualifying times and who raced whom.
In the very near future, we will be sending everyone a questionaire concerning the rules for next year, and we will post a link to download the form also. Remember, we will use these rules suggestions when we sit down and finalize everything, and your input is very valuable to us to make this association something that is both fun and fair for all.
Overall, the spectator response at the track was very good and they seemed to truly like what we showed them. They responded with comments that reflected the close races and the quality of the cars.
Again, Thank You everyone for your help with this, and I send my personal gratitude to all!
John Harrison

STEP UP! -- Mark, 14:26:41 11/13/02 Wed [5]
Ok, time to rally the troops. Just thought I’d drop a line and hopefully clarify the big picture for this weekends race. We have worked very hard to get to this point and we’ve made some real progress. We have big plans for next year and they include signing major sponsorship along with several minor ones. We are already in the discussion stage with some of them. Your participation in the race this weekend is important because a good turnout will help us secure the funding needed to have big purses to run for and pay for advertising and promotional materials. We can assure you that we are in this for the long haul and want to see the program grow into a professional organization that will be here for a long time and give all of us an opportunity to race the way drag racing is supposed to be. Heads Up! No delay boxes, no throttle stops, no breakouts, no index. So, for any of you that considered coming but their car only runs 5.80’s or 6 flat or whatever. Bring it. Several guys jumped in at the last race, just so we’d make a show. That’s the kind of attitude we need. You’ll have plenty of time during the off season to make your car competitive so now is the time to step up and do your part. It’s all good, kids.

we will have a "Mexican Scramble" start. To clarify this new rule:
All cars must be staged
Motors will be shut off
Drivers will stand in burn out box
When light turns green you will the run for the car and strap in, fire it and go LOL Too bad Faerman lost all that weight. This would surely put him and Conrad out LOL

- Saturday! -- John Harrison, 06:08:17 11/12/02 Tue [1]
Well, the Weather Channel says (in their infinite wisdom and unerring accuracy) that Saturday will be a great day for racing! So, blow the dust off and bring your bad selves to the races at Sealy. Let's show those Pro Mods what real race cars are!
No excuses... Apply early for the necessary "kitchen pass" from the wife or girlfriend. Notes from your mom won't be good enough. (Or that the dog ate your tech card)
Lets show these people that racing can be both fun and competitive without brake lights or throttle stops!
Come take our money, I dare you!

Roll Call -- Mark, 16:27:20 11/11/02 Mon [16]
Ok, race fans, time to hold up your hands and let us know if you can play this weekend. Should have some great air so these hot rods should be flyin'. Ordered some more t-shirts today so we should have plenty. Even got one for the monkey. The Pro Mods have two qualifying rounds on Friday night and anyone can make some test runs. You can also leave your trailer overnight for the Sat. race. When you enter the gate on Sat., you will receive a tech card for the track and a tech card for the TPSA. You will need to tech in with the track and then tech in with John at the scales. So keep us posted and remember, we have potential sponsors attending so a good turnout is important if you want to see this program succeed. Thanks to everyone for their help and input and we'll see ya'll this weekend.

You guys are saying weight to hp ? Ain't this kinda backwards? How can you set hp off of all the combos with out a great difference in the inches and different makes???? wouldn't cubic inches / carbs be more fair and equal ???? This sounds like the old factory ratings to gain an advantage in racing and to help with the insurance ratings. you big block guys need to get a grip on it and get real Its is sad when a 580 plus can't hang with a 400 inch small blk. when the big block with a little smarts can and should run away with these rules. maybe the super class racers are just dumb and can't build HP with a big blk ???

- So your on a all motor board with a pro mod asking for races WHATS UP WITH THAT? Sammy You need to call mad man up not me. I never call you a dumbass bro you must be thinking of someone else. You must have one slow promod if you got to call out a small block THATS BULL SHIT! (NT) -- Salsberry, 13:18:06 11/05/02 Tue
- I guess you can set up a Bracket Race with him Mark, I don't see where you called this guy a dumb a$$ (NT) -- Top Dog, 14:05:21 11/05/02 Tue
My Bad, it was a--hole you called me, not dumbass. Tell you what, I hear you used to call your car a comp car, cuz thats where you was headed. Lets run under NHRA comp rules, they have a P/M comp class. I NEVER CALLED YOU OUT, you instigated the match racing deal and brought "Pro Mod" in. (NT) -- Sammy, 11:10:55 11/06/02 Wed
- Call me Sammy ! Now i guess you got a comp pro mod! your on the wrong board you need to be on Texas Pro mod or NHRA board not Texas Pro Stocks pick up the phone. (NT) -- Salsberry, 13:42:34 11/06/02 Wed
- Hey John what kinda weight will a comp pro mod have to carry to run with us? If you got to pick on all motor car with a pro mod i cant think of a better word for you sammy! (NT) -- Salsberry, 13:55:18 11/06/02 Wed
- Call I call collect? I'm not picking on you just replying to YOUR "call out" , never really expected you to run us, just making a point that you dont have a pro mod or a comp program. You are pretty fast with what you got, just you aint got what it takes to run either of the mentioned classes right now. (NT) -- Done with this issue, 14:53:43 11/06/02 Wed
- Whatever Sammy Stay off all motor boards calling other people cars a pig. You dont have a Pro mod anyone who has one wouldnt go on a all motor web site trying to start shit. What good would it do? If you cant hang with the cars in you own class dont try and start shit with people in a much slower class. No my car is not set up for Pro mod or comp dont have the money for that . If you do thats great but dont screw with people that dont! Thats not cool at all! (NT) -- Salsberry, 15:13:46 11/06/02 Wed
- Tell you what Sammy here's what we can do i know a class where they let Pro mod racers like yourself and people with pigs like mine race it's called IHRS T/S that what my car is set up to run let do it after the race on the 16th what you say Sammy? hmm dont know why i didnt think of it earlyer must be getting old. (NT) -- Salsberry, 18:21:24 11/06/02 Wed

Sig Thomas Fund Raiser -- Mark, 15:23:51 10/29/02 Tue [3]
As you all know, Sig Thomas, a respected member of our racing family, has become very ill and his medical expenses are mounting. Please join us on November 12, 2002 for an afternoon of golf followed by a dinner party and silent auction at Pine Crest Country Club. The entry fee for the scramble is $500.00 per foursome including dinner. If you don’t have a foursome, we can create one for you. We have space for 144 players and need to fill it all. Shotgun start is at 1:00pm. Or skip golf and bring your family and friends directly to the party for a donation of $100.00 per person. The party begins at 6:00pm with dinner served at 7:00pm. In addition, you or your company can sponsor a hole for $500.00. Contact Mark Hess to donate your greatly needed silent auction items. Please RSVP asap and feel free to call if you have any questions. Please make all checks payable to: Stage 1 Motorsports.

- I saw the post by Mark that stated that "Some of the pieces allowed for this next race will not be back for next year" -- leave the rules alone, 11:40:45 10/26/02 Sat [2]
I wish yall would elaborate more on this.. Some of us have spent a bunch of money to compete in this class. It would really be bad if after all the time and money that has been thrown at this deal to then be told "Sorry, You are not welcome back.. But if you spend another 20K on a totally new combo and shit can your current combo you can come back" Sounds exactly like what happened to the trucks in NHRA. Hope you don't do this...

TPSA UPDATE -- Mark, 16:09:37 10/23/02 Wed [2]
OK race fans listen up, due to heavy rains and flooding, the management at Lone Star Raceway has decided to postpone the upcoming Pro Mod State Finals along with the Texas Pro Stocks, Big Dog Shootout, Texas Road Warriors, and True Ten race until November 15th & 16th. The schedule for the two day event remains the same. With several teams coming from out of state, Lone Star felt that it would be unfair to ask these racers to make the long trip when the potential for more heavy rain is forecast through the weekend. The upside is more time to prepare and more cars that were not ready this weekend will now have time to finish wrenching and do some testing. You guys have three extra weeks so no excuses and no notes from your momma will be accepted.

Rules? -- Mark, 19:20:00 10/21/02 Mon [7]
Read some emails and posts recently and thought I'd throw out some food for thought. The rules for this race are just what they are. THIS RACE ONLY. All this conversation about dominating and rules fluctuating is ok but I would hate to lose focus here. John has been gracious enough to volunteer to be the leadman as far as the rules go. We opened things up a bit so we could improve our car count and hopefully land some sponsors and get more feedback for next year. Another thing I think is important is that John does not have a car and has no hidden agenda. He just wants to see a competitive class just like we do so let him do his (volunteer) job and I think next year we'll see a good result. I don't even have a car yet, but I can probably tell you what I would build. A short deck 540 to 565 with a decent set of heads and a single carb. Will I win a bunch? Probably not. Will I be competitive? I would hope so. More importantly, will I have a good time? Damn straight.
