john this was not me i am discouraged about the s/b rules & think they will disapear as soon as the faster cars show up & would love to see a second class even if there is only 6 or so cars the first race i think the class will grow but i do believe the s/b's will never hang with the b/b's no matter what the weight 4.80's to 4.90's will never be seen by any s/b at any weight if you ever get a s/b class we will run but i'm not going to spend 10,000 to get my doors blown off at any weight .....LET"S HAVE A SEPERATE CLASS...good luck guy's (NT) -- jeff rytter, 16:44:18 10/07/02 Mon
john you know i have the utmost respect for you but like i've said before my friend in corpus has gone 5.0's with unported heads & 13 to1 at 557 in. & easily goes low 5.20's with 1 1/2 sec on the controller with ported heads & intake & shaving the heads a little engine systems has told him he should pick up another 75 to 100 h.p from his already 880 h.p ..so what about the 1000 plus h.p motors which is easy to get all it takes is $$$ for 20,000 sonny can give me 1050 easy maybe 1075 i just don't have 20,000 (NT) -- jeff rytter, 18:21:50 10/07/02 Mon
10-4 on what John said. For example, if during the season, we see a combination that is dominating the program we will modify the rules accordingly. Close, competitive racing is and always will be the goal. (NT) -- Mark, 18:31:51 10/07/02 Mon
for the no name posting ???? like i've said before he will try to be here on the 26th his wife is about 2 wks away from having their second child but he will for sure be here the first race next season & is for sure going to send the heads & intake off to engine systems during the winter,if you are in doubt i'm sure i can set up something for $$$$ against the clock if it don't go 5.0's ill pay you & if it don't you pay me $$$$ if you don't know the car you have no room to question ....have a nice day.... mark i promise it won't be me so keep it holstered... i'm just trying to speak my mind since there are so few brave enough to do so..i do wish you guy's the best ...if someone thinks they have a small block that will hang under the current rules great thats 1 bad a$$ s/b .... -- jeff rytter, 19:38:42 10/07/02 Mon
Jeff, everybody needs to realize that we still have a long way to go before we set the rules for next year. But we have to have some rules to start with and go from there. Remember, we still haven't had a BIG BB down the track yet (got some comin) and we still have more questions than answers. The bottom line is still getting as many cars down the track so we can make an intelligent decision. It's either that or shoot the winners, I can't decide. -- Mark, 19:55:54 10/07/02 Mon
racer i'm probably going to piss on somke toes but here goes apperently you don't know s/b's switching to 18 or 14 deg heads is not chump change you need new pistons, heads ,valve train, headers, intake at minimum about $6,000 -- jeff, 16:52:53 10/07/02 Mon
sorry forgot there are so many jeff's on here maybe we need to have a jeff bbq -- jeff rytter, 17:05:41 10/07/02 Mon
racer z if you think you can build a b/b for 6,000 or even 10,000 that will run 5.0's or better good luck we spent 6,000 on a set of 360's ,rockers intake & carb alone get real to build a competitive b/b is going to take 15,000 plus call sonny's or shaffiroff or reher/morrison cause 900 h.p ai'nt going to cut it as soon as some people start to roll out there wallets -- jeff rytter, 18:14:21 10/07/02 Mon
We will modify the rules based on these two races for next year. It doesn't matter if a car is a little off the pace right now. We still need the data and we need car count for sponsorship opportunities. I'd pay 50 bucks and run my pit scooter down the track if I thought it would help. More cars equals more information equals fairer rules. It's just that simple. (NT) -- Mark, 16:04:49 10/05/02 Sat
Re: Rules... -- A fellow racer, 09:14:45 10/04/02 Fri
here we go with the comp small blocks & sheet metal intakes i guess those of us with 23 deg. will have to stick to bracket racing i tried already had 4 cars lined up that all run 5.70' to 5.80's & i'm sure there are a lot more out there but i guess i you don't have an old comp motor or an old comp car that weighs 2000 lbs you can't play good luck see you baytown -- jeff rytter, 16:19:59 10/03/02 Thu
Jeff, please reread John's post. I believe we're trying to find a combo for the small blocks that will work. Just need a good turnout with some different engine/weight combos to see where we need to go. I wouldn't pack up my toys just yet. If you know of someone who wants to play on the 26th. Have them email John and let's look at it. -- Mark, 17:24:39 10/03/02 Thu
mark i'm not packing it in yet i will pester you guy's until it's dead .i am going to rebuild my car this winter with the engine it has & will get my buddies with the 23 deg heads to try at least 2 races at the begining of next season & if we are not competitive then so be it thats fine but we will give it a shot but there is no way we can compete with a 2/4 sheet metal 400 plus in.any head motor .i just want to see a bigger field to draw from & the 14,18 or canted valve motors are rare they do run great & i respect that but most of us are on a budget -- jeff rytter, 19:00:47 10/03/02 Thu
sorry if my remarks offended anyone that was not my intenti'm just frustrated it won't happen again ...for anyone with 23 deg heads or anyone that knows someone please call or e-mail john with your times & weights so he can get a better idea of who's interested & what it would take to be competitive with the 18 & 14 deg stuff......thanks & again i'm not trying to slam tpsa I JUST WANT TO PLAY NOT GET BEAT UP.. -- jeff rytter, 19:59:45 10/04/02 Fri
I think your punishing the smallblocks kinda hard. The baddest smallblock I have ever heard of is hard pressed to make 1000 hp. Most of your 18 degree stuff makes about 750 to 850 anything above that and its grenade time ask Salsberry :) Sorry Mark.. A big block can be made to make 12 to 1300 hp fairly easily just call shaffroff with your visa. I think Buckys car is about the fastest smallblock you will see @ 2450 lbs It takes a special machine shop to make that kind of hp in a small block. but 1200? funny I want to see that one. -- Frige, 16:24:46 10/04/02 Fri
conrad i 2nd that ther is no way with the current rules a s/b will be able to stay w/the bigger in. motors when they show up i'm all for the nicer s/b's getting a better weight but i still want a sperate class for us po'folks with 23 deg single 4 i would love to see you guy's w/the bad ass s/b's kick some rear good luck -- jeff rytter, 19:15:58 10/03/02 Thu
jeff we are all around the 2300 with driver mark with 1 at 2100 he;s got a hat now & would change to a toilet if needed i can trim about 150 pretty easy but any more will require major work i've been e mailing john behind the scenes so as not to stir the pot he has been very helpful & the more of us 23 deg guy;s that get a consistent set of rules together to present to him the better please e-mail me your # i'd like to talk my e-mail is jprytter @ev1.net ..... (NT) -- jeff rytter, 19:49:45 10/04/02 Fri
bucky went 5.38 with a small block at 2450 thats very impressive but what will happen when the 550 in 7 bigger motors start showing up running 5.0's & 4.90's how will this very nice small block or any other stand a chance & as far as a 580 in motor only making 925 like i said before when this all started i talked to sonny's & for $20,000 they can give me close to 1100 h.p with dart 410's problem is i don't have $20,000 to blow right now what will that car run at 2450 my buddy in corpus runs 5.0's with 880 h.p at 2490 can we say 4.8's all it takes is money & some people have plenty of it -- jeff, 18:49:36 10/03/02 Thu

Re: This is a great idea. I would like to see a weight brake to the small blocks or let them run two fours. I like the idea of a standard head. We need to get the dollars down so everyone has a chance to race. Thanks for giving all of us the ability to race. The small blocks will be running in the 5.60 range so it shouldn't be to bad. The weight brake needs to be adding weight to the Big Blocks because it is tough to get a car under 2400 lbs. Just my 2 cents worth. -- RICK HANSON, 13:43:10 09/12/02 Thu
