Subject: Unexpected guest alert?

After we moved in to this new home, not that long ago...the frount door would unexpectedly open, even when locked. It is usually afternoon or evenings this would happen. There would be no one arround the door inside or out, too. A little freaky, but not a pain.

Within an hour of this happening, a guest would arrive unexpectedly. Dh did not belive us until he seen it happen right in front of his eyes today while he was near the foyer. Within 20 mins. his mom showed up, without the regular pre-visit phone call.

This isnt too freaky for us though, as similar thing happend at the old house which was thought to be just the ewsay the door was....and locked it wouldnt do this. THIS house will do it with it locked! and yes, we have to unlock it to close the door ;-). Tommorrow there will be a safety lock installed...so no need to worry there. I just get a freindly feeling about this visitor/visitor warning though.

Any Ideas on what I could do on changing the "alert" method to something less noticable than the door opening? Two brother-in-laws have been spooked by it already. What's strange is I know it is open AS it opens, or a few seconds before it opens. My 14 yr old son was a bit freaked when he stepped up on the portch and the door opened for him. Little quirks hu?

Wishing all a Happy New Year!

Crystal
