Subject: Our early musical influences?

Burtons' post of early inflences was pretty interesting stuff. How about hearing about the early influences of some of the posters....we can have influences without being musicians...you know, we all have tunes/albums we go back to periodically over the years (not specifically top 10 or party- favourite type of lists, but the STUFF you liked
when you first started to notice music, and that you still appreciate). Maybe we'll rediscover some stuff we had forgotten about...don't even peg it to a certain number, like 5 or ten; don't feel you have to "fill" a list...and
don't worry if you are a bit younger (and your selections
seem "too new")...good music is ageless....(and if need be indicate what album the music came from, so we can find the stuff, if we choose to look)...

A few of my favourites:
"House at pooh corner"...and the whole Uncle Charlie and
His Dog Teddy album by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
"One Too Many Mornings"...a Dylan tune on The Association
Live double LP (a great live 2 disc album from about 1970).
"Baby The Rain Must Fall" by Glen Yarbrough...don't know much about this other than it was a movie theme and it was
old when I discovered it about '73- '74.
"No Time"- I know we did the list thing to death, but this is still "the song"...
"I Shall Be Released"- another Dylan tune, done by Bette Midler on the Divine Madness LP...that album had a number of pretty little ballads on it...incidentally, I remember hearing another version of "I Shall Be Released" on the radio in the early to mid 70's by a female singer...it was
a highly- produced version in that it had very smooth lead
and backing vocals and the sound was very "polished"...I never did hear who the singer was but I've always loved
the version, but haven't heard it since...ring a bell with anyone? (It was done like a Barry Manilow- style ballad).

"I Shall Be Released" was also covered by the Band on Big Pink I think and it is really good too. I always liked the Band, just because they were so different
