Subject: EXERPTS FROM "COLOURED LIGHTS CAN HYPNOTIZE"

Because of some strange and ugly events on this site, some of you may have missed a few exerpts from my book that I posted just for fun...I know that all of you don't go to the archives every time you come to the site...well just in case anyone is interested, there are several varied exerpts from the book now in the archives...
I'll put up a bit here and there from time to time and I hope you find my stories interesting. By the way, there was a time way back when Peterson was signing his first name with only one R...if something that insignificant makes anyone here thiink I'm an imposter, then again this is a classic case of "OVER SCRUTINY"...I see that I'm beginning to encounter all the same problems in cyber space that I've been battling in the "other world" for so many years...is there no end to all of this? Can't we just post back and forth like civilized upright primates? Good Lord, I've only been on line about three weeks and already I'm being pushed around...some things never change...

I wouldn't worry about the Garry with on R comment- she was probably just attempting to be humerous(badly) but because of the bs this morning (which she missed) it really doesn't go over too well.

Many people always want a bigger piece of the pie, even if the pie isn't theirs in the first place...
Although you're a seasoned veteran when it comes to dealing with all manner of strange folks I can well imagine it's always a bit unnerving. Fortunately, it's apparent you have the wisdom and composure to see it for what it's worth. Trash, nothing more, nothing less. Thanks for not being scared off! One of the first lessons I learned about cyber space was to watch my back. Plenty of spam has found its way into my humble inbox and a dose of abuse, too. As Deb mentioned, we've had our share of loonies both here and on other message boards. Nobody has been exempt, it seems, even the great unwashed. A pox upon the abusers and their houses!

The excerpts are totally cool. Thanks for opening them up to us! I'll be there when you guys play Calgary, and hopefully Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge as well. I might have to sell a couple of my kids to afford it all!

Please make yourself at home here, we KNOW it wasn't you this morning. Hope you enjoy CSNY tonight.
Absolutely love the entrys from your book. Can't wait to read it. It certainly sounds like a typically wild road trip to a concert when someone was young. It could have been any one to any show. I had a similar experience once with a Triumph show at MLG.
All the best! Nimbus 9

"Find your stories interesting"?! That Jim Morrison story was a real screen-scroller, for sure. We read a much briefer account of this in JE's book. I was picturing the whole thing like I was on that piano bench playing the bass line (that's where the real control is ;-) ). The "beverly hillbillies mansion" description certainly nailed that visualization down. I wonder, had you any sense from looking at Jim that he was on the downslide toward his demise or was it just too cool to be around such a mega star to make that kind of observation?
The hipper-than-thou interviewer story is certainly something that any 30 yr GW fan understands, having withstood the scorn of others who were far too heavy for TGW. Even when TGW steered away from the AM-friendly songs, it was too late, the FMers already had'em defined and neatly placed into the "uncool" category. But the music that came out of that sounds so much more honest, tuneful than alot of the rambling, stoned out, with out-of-tune harmonies that the "hipper" dudes were putting out.
Along with Elton, I would suggest that Steely Dan also made it cool to be commercial while still being true to one's Muse.

> I could say alot, but I will simply say,
that I am sorry that some mindless idiot(s)
tried to kill the huge buzz going through this
room the past few days (and more importantly
sully you & your participation here).
The buzz is more universal, too. This morning,
the beast in the Mpls market (KQRS) played
"Share the Land" (garry's drumming is so beautiful here,
as it is on "Guns") and "No Time". The momentum
from "Austin" & " American Beauty" for the band is huge.
Keep the faith, Luxton. 99.9% of the room can't wait for the summer. God bless BC & all of you. Yours, GGG.

WOW! The exerpt about your night with JM was a good read. I was crazy about the Doors, too. But instead of traveling to concerts and snortin' blow, I was at home (which happened to be in the middle of nowhere-literally) smokin' BAW and listening to the Doors (but only after my homework was done-I was a good girl. And my parents were great; they never cared about the weed as long as I stayed on the honor roll, so I did both). His lyrics were truly brilliant--and they got even brighter with a good buzz. LOL My personal favorite has always been Crystal Ship. Still to this day, no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing if I hear a song by the Doors I smell Jasmine sented incense in my head. I was almost as big a fan of JM's then as I am of you now. The difference is that I don't listen much to the Doors anymore; just occasionally, where as I really think I will listen to your music the rest of my life.

When you are writing your book and calling up the past, does it ever take you into such a heady state of excitment that you tremble or have to back away from it awhile to calm down? It's obvious from what I've read, that you have loved what you have lived every much as I have loved my own life. I am very anxious to read the entire book; I will savor every morsel.
