Subject: Undun

I just wanted to let you know the effect your singing has had on my life - and it all has to do with the song Undun, although not written by you, but definitely performed by you in such a manner as to bring a soothing salve to a wound on my soul that few could touch, much less heal. For at the time you first sang this song I had given birth to a baby boy, a baby I had to relinquish to adoption. Burton that act destroyed me, and affected me for the rest of my life, as it still does now today. In September after searching for him since 1980, I found that he had been killed in a car accident in 1997. But still i had your song to hang on to, and it soothed me to think that someone could understand the heartbreak I felt, and that helped the healing come, for yes, and in so many ways I had come undun - but you have helped to mend the tear. So everytime you sit and contemplate why you do what you do, why you put up with all that is false in the music industry, why you give away pieces of yourself in every song that you write until you wonder if you have any you left over for you and is it all worth it, just please remember all of us whose lives you have touched in ways you may never know with a positive energy that has helped keep us sane and steady when the very earth under our feet was rocking our world with mind numbing destruction.

And so Burton, I thank you, I thank you for being you.

Sue

Wow, Sue. My heart breaks for what you have been through. My mom almost put me up for adoption, and thanks God every day that she did not. I am blessed with two wonderful people as birth parents. I only know my mom, but I hear my bfather is pretty swell, too. Your message makes me all the more thankful. Thank you so much for sharing your story!

Sorry for what you had to go through. I'm sure it was and still is quite painful. Burton's songs are like oxygen to the blood. When I was going through a divorce, 'Stand Tall' was just released, and it was a gift from God through Burton. (I've posted about this earlier) It amazes me how the Lord can use practical things to heal us. (sometimes it's hard to grasp the spiritual) This guy knows how to get into the innermost parts of our being.
I always try to keep in mind that things happen for a reason.
