Subject: WINNIPEG COMMNITY CLUB GIG
We really want to play one tiny community club gig before the large dates start...one of the places where the Guess Who and the Deverons sorta started out...most of the clubs are still standing unchanged in Winnipeg...we'd love to do River Heights CC for nostalgic reasons, but the sound is god awful, so that's out...the rest of the boys and I are still trying to decide where that very special gig will take place...we have a couple of possibilties in mind, and the minute it's decided, I'll post it here on the board...it'll only be for about three hundred people, so getting in will be left "in the lap of the Gods" as Freddie Mercury once said...also, I don't know if Jeff from Sound Exchange in Winnipeg is on line, but I do know he has archived every single minute of the Club House since it's been on the air..some of you may want to contact him and see if he's willing to make dubs or something...dig y'all later...

you have great class in your rock and roll Burton...there is a huge amount of honour in the process you guys are heading towards...those of us that come from Winnipeg feel a strange pull everytime we step foot into the city... years away seem to disappear and our connection grabs hold once again...can only applaud your plans for the tour this summer...many of us will be looking forward to it.

I'm sorry. I didn't know the old name of the club was River Heights!

No, Scott, I didn't mean that. The BC Community Club used to be the Northend Community Club anyway, I think. But this came up in chat Fri and of coarse when he mentioned it, we suggested the BCCC- and he said the sound was bad there also.

Oh. Sorry again. I guess if I had been at the chat I would have gotten it, but as you know I was working AGAIN.
But anyway Deb, do you think you might come back to Winnipeg for the small gig if you get chance? It would be cool to hang out with you and a few others from the board at the show (if we manage to get in).

Probably not finacially doable for me- but I'd love to make it back there someday.

.Along with the idea of my previous post -- a 300-person gig that you moderate the sells for -- well, it seems only right that YOU, American Woman,, would get a free admission out of it! (Whattya say, Sam????? Luxton?????)

So why is it impossible to sell one gig JUST through this site, hmmm? Or better yet, through AW? She could 'screen' the sells that way! pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease????(Spoken by one who made it in before we 'went over' 300!!!!

Burton,
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
My first marriage broke up in 1987.
I got it right the next time.
Took my date to see you at the Royal York in Toronto, June 4, 1988.
Good omen.
We married in 1990, have custody of my boys from the first go round, and we will all be there at the Molson Amplitheatre June 15 (we took the boys to see you there three years ago).
THESE EYES and ears know there will be NO TIME better than hearing you guys again. We wil be LAUGHING and STANDING TALL as the four of you SHARE THE LAND.
Am going to see CSNY tomorrow night but know will not get off on it like I will when you guys get here.
God Bless.
RC

Re: WINNIPEG COMMNITY CLUB GIG -- Mike Mullen, 01:11:58 03/30/00 Thu [1] (user-38lcdom.dialup.mindspring.com/209.86.55.22)
As the fan club representative from Georgia I send greetings. I've thought for years how good my choice of TGW as my favorite band is because of the consistent output of good music by the guys associated with the band. With you posting here it makes my choice even more satisfying.
I bet I win the '99 award for going the farthest to hear you play when we came from Atlanta to see the shows in Toronto, Bala and Brocksville. We had a great trip exploring the area and meeting some of the folks that post here. There are some really great people here.
I had the pleasure of spending some time visiting with you after a couple of gigs you played in Greenville, South Carolina back in '94. One might wonder how in the world you ended up playing there??? I liked the CD's of the bands you recommended to me and I hope you checked out Jellyfish as they were the only good band I could name that you weren't familiar with. Got any new bands that you think are making good music? I'm always on the lookout.
When there is less traffic here (can hardly keep up with it all) I'd like to pass along my story of how your music helped me through a difficult time.
