Subject: Hi, Burton!

Burton,
The temptation to post to you directly is, for me, as well as everyone else it seems, just too great to pass up. I think we all have a need to tell you and each other what your music means to us. I'm embarassed to say that I am a relatively new fan. What musical hole my head was buried in I can't say. However, once I really heard the music, I was gone. I tried for a short while to be "objective" about it, to resist it somehow--why I don't know except there is a certain vulnerability about being a fan--but my soul wouldn't let me. It is the most beautiful, life-affirming music I've ever heard. I've bought all the GW and BC cds I can find and I won't rest till I have them all. I was astonished by the depth of your music. I am consistently blown away by song after song. I love the beautiful ones, the rockin' ones, the bluesy ones. I said to you the other night in chat that whatever frequency your music broadcasts on that's the frequency my spirit is tuned to.. That's the best way I've ever had to describe it. In your darkest moments--and we all have them--remember that your music is making a difference in the lives of so many and thank you SO MUCH for that. Please don't let everyone's tributes scare you away. Someday we'll be used to your presence here and we can just talk about the music. We ALL have the music in common.

I must say, being relatively new to c-space that all this attention is almost overwhelming...as far as the work through the years...my favourite GW album has always been Rockin'..as far as my solo stuff, I think I like Woman Love and Plus Signs best of all those...but I am currently working on assembling Volume 2 of For The Fans, and I promise it will not disappoint...you know, when I write songs, I'm always optimistic that they will touch people or somehow some of you will "get it"...all these postings and the chat last Friday night and all the pix in the gallery...the attention in general, has made me aware that many of you really ARE listening...I'm looking at what I do in a very different light beacause of the last few days...
thank you for caring so much....

Burton, we are listening in more ways than you can possibly imagine.

When I started the American Woman page, a few people e-mailed me pics for it to put on. Then I got so many, I couldn't add them all on the webpage, so I found the Photopoint Album and started putting them on there. (which led to people e-mailing me-more pics!) Anyway, I've been having a ball being able to converse with other fans since I got online in Aug 98 and meeting them at shows.
