Subject: Guess Who Reunion SET LIST suggestions -----
What I do NOT want to see is the same old same old songs we've heard 5.7 million times before. Randy, Burt, Jim, Garry, Sam, Lorne, if you guys are reading, here are a few possibilities, some numbers that'll let you guys really break out of that same old same old: ........... (1) American Woman (2) Flying On The Ground Is Wrong (3) These Eyes (4) Palmyra (5) A Wednesday In Your Garden (6) Undun (7) This Time Long Ago (8) No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature (9) Runnin Back To Saskatoon (tribute to Kurt) (10) Guess Who Blues (11) No Time (12) Fly Away (covering Lenny Kravitz, sort of a tip of the hat, a return gesture after American Woman) (13) We're Coming To Dinner (14) *NEW BACHMAN/CUMMINGS CUT* (15) Laughing (16) Albert Flasher (17) Daydream Believer (18) *NEW BACHMAN/CUMMINGS CUT* (19) You Ain't Seen Nothin Yet (20) American Woman reprise ........ guys, it's all about varying the old and the new. Looking back *and* looking forward ........... iHawk

You don't think we'd actually let them off stage without a couple of Burton solo tunes do ya? No way buddy! "Creepin Peepin Baby Blues" made it into the '83 set and would sound good again in 2000. And must I continue saying "Glace Bay Blues" and "Samantha's Living Room"? Yes I must, and I did. Let's give Donnie his due. And of course anything off "Road Food" (except for "Clap For The Wolfman"-too corny). It'd be cool to hear Randy's take on Kurt's guitar work.

I agree. I surely hope this isn't just a Top 40 set. One determining factor might be what Randy feels comfortable playing (from his era in the band). Although, he showed in the '83 set that he had no problem playing post-Bachman material. I'm all for having more than a few surprises thrown in songwise . . .
Pink Wine Sparkles In The Glass
Lightfoot
6 A.M. Or Nearer
When Friends Fall Out
Goin' A Little Crazy
So Long Bannatyne
Bye Bye Babe, etc., etc.
Burton could even throw in Fiddlin' or One Man Army for some comic relief. It's been my experience that an audience gets a real kick when hearing something that no one thought they would hear.

I agree with you, Hawk, it would be nice to hear some personal favourites in amongst the hits, but the reality is that if it wasn't for the hits, the band wouldn't be reuniting for such a major tour. I remember one interview
about the subject of song selection (it may have been BTO's manager...Bruce ???...a number of years ago), and he had said, with a tour, ya gotta' give 'em the hits. Besides, with a body of music as deep as the GW's, they could play
for 3 days, and still not satisfy every fan. Your favourites won't neccesarily satisfy the person in the stands next to you. My favourite tunes may not satisfy you.
But the hits will satisfy most people because they are what
people remember and are coming to see. This forum is great for the hard-core fans, but in reality, the tour has to cater to a much more diverse audience and be a bit more mainstream....I'm not saying that is "right", but I am
saying that I understand why it has to be that way.
On an related note, with the pending tour announcements,
I've noticed a big increase in GW airplay in the past 24 hours. I've heard 4 GW tunes on various stations, since yesterday, while driving to work and home...in the past, I'd be lucky to hear 4 in a week.

.Unfortunately, carguy, I think you hit the nail on the head -- these concert(s) are not being held for only the 291+ of us! Therefore, the majority of ticket buyers want to hear the majority of the 'hits.' Wouldbe kind of cool though if, say, one venue were for designated-full-range-Guess-Who fans only! So, where's a 300-seat concert hall......

I've noticed that around here, too. A good omen, perhaps?

I would really like to hear Proper Stranger, Dancin' Fool, and When the Band was Singin' Shakin All Over. I can't wait until the announcement is made - I hope Toronto is near the top of the list!!!

My guess is that you would get maybe 4 songs that are band personal picks, the rest would be the most popular songs. It is fun to hear unusual picks though. Some I think would be cool are "Pleasin for Reason"(especially if Donnie is there), Attila's Blues, Take it off of My Shoulders, 8:15. How about Ballad of the Last 35 Years?

Good one! > Ballad of the Last 35 Years!
I've got to agree, when Burton toured for Plus Signs, Lorne told him "You've got to give them what they want to hear." It's true, the average Joe/Jane will be shelling out close to $100.00 for him/her and his/her partner to hear These Eyes and American Woman. I really didn't have any problem with the 1983 set list, other than RB got two BTO songs and BC only got one of his own. (Creepin' Peepin' hadn't been released yet so for all we knew it was a new GW song.) I'd love to hear Donnie do something but unfortunately I doubt it will happen. Someone mentioned Bye Bye Babe. Nope, Wallace sang that one. I'd like to hear 4 or 5 new ones, the BIG hits, a smattering of the other hits and 4 or 5 lesser known album cuts. Palmyra, Atilla's Blues, Pain Train, All Hashed Out, and Just Let Me Sing would send me away more than happy. And since this is a GUESS WHO concert, I won't need to hear any BTO or BC solo material. Frankly, I think it will be more of a challenge to guess which hits they WON'T play!

OK, other than 'hits,' I want to hear: - Truckin' off across the sky, -- Pleasin' for Reason, -- Road Food (I can't be the only one!) -- Glace Bay Blues -- lightfoot. There.!.
