Ultimately, I agree. Since he's been so "niggardly" with his output, certainly he has a humongus backlog of originals from which to choose a killer collection. But with his world-class, it's hard to want to hear the Voice covering all one's favorite tunes.

Although this may sound sacrilegious to many Burton purists, I think "The Voice" needs a band to collaborate and play with. I think there's alot to be said for the back-and-forth interplay between like-minded musicians that can create some wonderful results. Certainly Burton would be the big brain leading the whole shebang but I really miss the sound of a rock and roll band behind Burton's piano and vocals. After all, look what happened with Carlos Santana when he rubbed shoulders with the young talent that has been influenced by his music. Incredible stuff. But of course I'm not in Burton's show biz shoes so these are all merely my own opinions and do not reflect the opinions or views of the management here on the Burton Cummings Fan Club.

Hey- everybody's entitled to their opinion. Burton was talking about getting a band together before the GW tour pushed that to the backburner. ( only for now I hope.) Me, I loved the UCAA shows because Burton interacted with his audience, saying hi to them onstage, joking with them kinda cool."Are you here again?" He does recognise people he sees show after show. He rocked with the Carpet Frogs in Winnipeg.

Another right answer. Considering I've not seen the man live (other than his cameo w/ Ringo's band when he absolutely stole the show with his 2 songs), I'd settle for the UC&A over nothing, but the high wattage thing always blew my hair back the most.

Sometimes I feel like I've got two fans tugging at my innards. The one has expressed his Burton feelings earlier and then there's another fan that is caught in a bubble of time. My favorite GW era were the Kurt Winter/Donnie McDougall years. God how I miss Kurt's songwriting and guitar work. And then there's Donnie's Canadian folk influences that have left an impression on me I'll probably never shake. Ah the ultimate ying-yang/black-white/yes-no struggles. My bipolar personality at work with my Guess Who/Burton yearnings. Train comin' too fast...

I think there was a huge amount of creativity with the Guess Who and I agree that there can be some synergy with the group rather than solo. Burton has said it is much harder to perform by yourself than with a band, I think the same can be said for the creative process of writing and developing the sound. Burton and Randy seem to really work well together writing songs.
