BC/GW, Paul McCartney's new CD, RUN, DEVIL, RUN (rocking with his Long Tall Sally voice on several cuts with turbo-charged Chuck Berry riggage from David Gilmour of Pink Floyd...best thing from Paul in decades), flipping radio stations between country, classic & oldies. Steely Dan's first studio CD, TWO AGAINST NATURE in about 20 yrs arrives from Amazon (15.50 inc. shipping) fri. or so, then I'll have that to devour. I've listened to the latest Sting a couple of times...good tunes for the headphones at work.

Right now, I'm listening to SD's TWO AGAINST NATURE for the 2nd time ever, blasting on headphones. This is one slick buncha urban groove we got here. Definitely more varied and interesting than the last Fagen solo, KAMAKIRIAD. Too soon to compare it or rank with the other Steely, but I know that it belongs in the collection.

The new Steely Dan was spinning in my CD player too this past week. I think it's great!
Incidentally, Burton has played "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" a few times in The Clubhouse.

Boy it was hard to trim it down to 10 but these are my most recent faves I've purchased and just love the hell out of:

Stone Coyotes "Church Of The Falling Rain"
Continental Drifters "Vermilion"
Neko Case "The Virginian" and "Furnace Room Lullaby"
James Darren "This One's From The Heart"
Frank Sinatra "The Capitol Years"
Handsome Family "In The Air"
Muffs "Hamburger"
Penelope Houston "Tongue" and "Cut You"
Alison Pipitone "Just Like Being Born"
Two Dollar Pistols with Tift Merritt "Two Dollar Pistols with Tift Merritt"

BC (of course, just yesterday finally got Woman Love CD and partly I may change my previous opinion about that album, it sounds great on CD, though I still don't like that Mile a second song)
Alex Chilton (formerly of Box Tops and Big Star, on Alex's new album is a version of Shiny Stockings, but sadly it is only an instrumental one, and not very good version).
Merrell Fankhauser (old hippie with Mu and just released new album with his old surf-band called the Impacts)
54-40 (great Canadian band, found one of their album from the bargain bin, this one I've been listening mostly lately)
Byrds (just got on CD the Untitled/Unreleased and Live at Fillmore, both are great)
Grateful Dead (cool new box-set, with Dick's Picks series I'm little behind, but you can't have everything)
Tea Party (another great canadian group, I like their attitude, which could be like more is more, very full sounding albums)
Wigwam (classic Finnish prog-rock)
Haikara (obscure Finnish prog-rock)
Guess Who (current favorite is So Long Bannatyne, the album and the song).

First, the given: BC/GW
Ian Thomas/Boomers
Santana
Eric Clapton
Griffin&Sylvester(James Griffin and Terry Sylvester of the Hollies)
Harry Nilsson
Kenny Loggins
And like bcpcfan, I also have to endure a lot of the "boygroups" music because of my three daughters. Because of that reason I've heard way too much Ricky Martin, especially last summer. Aye, carumba!

Ha ha- Livin' La Vida Lunchmeat! I'd sing it like that, so whenever Jimmy would sing the song, he'd sing "Livin' La Vida Lunchmeat", catch himself and yell "Mooooooom!"
Speaking of Jimmy, I'm having a crisis- in 2 weeks, my kid has gone from being 1" shorter than me to 2" Taller. sigh. Of coarse now he insists on us standing back to back 5 x a day.

HA! I'm in the same boat, AW. My 11 year old daughter is 5 foot 3 3/4 inches, and follows me around wanting me to see if she's grown any over night. She's 4 inches away from catching me and determined to do that before she's in her teens. Don't you love to buy clothes then have to give them away two months later 'cuz they're too short?

Same here. My oldest and I are tied for height, but #2 has been coming on strong these last 6 months and is threatening to overtake us both. That has to be the weirdest thing about having kids--when you can look them in the eye and then you're looking up.

Burton
Guess Who
Santana (Smooth is a great song-love Rob Thomas)
Cher
Johnny Mathis
Tony Bennett
Boyzone (my kids are in their 20's, my music choice)
Barry Manilow
Rick Nelson
Reba McEntire

What a combo! Burton is a daily listen for me, and the others are according to the way I feel at the time.
I know what some of you are going through with the boy/girl groups. When my girls were younger, I took them to New Kids on the Block concerts, Michael Jackson, Shawn Cassidy (twice) and many more. Thank God it won't last forever!!!!!!

Well I'll give this a shot:

BC/GW
Queen
Beatles
Grand Funk Railroad
Golden Earring
Northern Pikes (Canadian Band)
Joe Jackson
Max Webster/Kim Mitchell (Max Webster is a Canadian band, Kim Mitchell is their guitarist with lots of solo CDs)
Kinks
Lynyrd Skynyrd

And as usual, I reserve the right to change this at any time! I'd have problems making a top 25 list, for that matter. I guess I went by what I've been listening to most recently. And like some of the others, my kids have the radio on loud all day long, I've lived la vida and gone loco.

I love Kim Mitchell, I heard he was playing Red's in Edmonton in the near future, or maybe I missed it already.

So here's my list, but it changes daily. . . except for

Burton Cummings and the Guess Who of course
Eric Clapton
Crash Test Dummies
The Black Crows
Journey (Love Steve Perry)
Kim Mitchell (how about those Patio Lanterns)
Great Big Sea
Bare Naked Ladies
Gowen
10,000 Maniacs (Natalie Merchant)
Amanda Marshall
Sarah McLachlan
Harry Connick Jr.
Jon Anderson (what a voice)

oh I better stop. . . I could go on and on

Debbie,
Been too busy lately remodeling the living room, music has been kind of on the back burner. But I have been listening to a collection of psychedelic music which I recorded onto a CD. It contains Dylan, Canned Heat, Buffalo Springfield, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, the Beach Boys, the Doors, Tommy James, CSNY, Grateful Dead, and more.
Other than Sixpence None The Richer, there are not too many bands worth listening to these days.

The Outlaws! There's a blast from my past! Saw them three times in a matter of a month and a half or so in about '78. Great shows! Is there much available from them in the way of cd's thesedays?

Besides a couple of the usual compilation CD's, the first 5 studio LP's have been released on CD. I don't know if they are all still available or not, but the first 3 are for sure.

I have a couple people have probably never heard of, they are friends of mine. Here's my list

Burton Cummings
The Guess Who
Dann Rogers - a friend, Kenny's nephew, I met Burton through Dann
Silvercreek - the band Jack Daniels was in when I met him. They cut an album, and I listen to it quite frequently.
Stephen Curtis Chapman
Alabama
Reba McIntire
Toto
Little River Band
Glenn Miller Remastered recordings
I have a very wide musical taste. Was born hoppin to Dixieland Jazz, and was influenced by this because of my dad. So, I run the whole spectrum from Country to Rock, to Jazz, to Christian contemporary artists. Makes life interesting.
