Subject: RARITIES FROM THE CLUBHOUSE

Since The Clubhouse wasn't on Wednesday or Thursday, due to Burton's trip to L.A. to meet up with some "very, very hot, special producers" about his new album, I thought I'd take the opportunity to post a small list of the great rare GW/BC recordings featured on The Clubhouse regularly. Although the majority of the music Burton plays on the show is by other artists, anybody who listens would take note of the rarities he spins throughout the shows from his entire career. Most of the stuff has never been re-issued in over 30 years. Some of it has never been issued at all. As Burton says before many of these songs are played,
"I hope you have your tape recorders running!"

TOP TEN CLUBHOUSE GUESS WHO/BURTON CUMMINGS RARITIES

1. "There Ain't No More" (Recent solo recording that Burton says will be on his new album. Excellent song. No official release as of yet)
2. "Blue Is The Night" (The Deverons debut single issued on REO Records. Slow and moody, and never re-issued since 1965.)
3. "She's Your Lover" (B-side of "Blue Is The Night". Burton's debut as a songwriter on record. Garage rocker with mean and ragged guitar solo.)
4. "Summertime Blues" (The Guess Who recorded during their radio/television days. Although an obvious copy of Blue Cheer's Eddie Cochran cover, it's neat to hear Burton sing the song. Very impressive musicianship from the boys.)
5. "In Your Eyes" (From the unreleased Bachman & Cummings album in the 80's. Proves the guys haven't lost the magic of writing good music together.)
6. "Lost Love" (Another from The Deverons, this time written by Burton and Bruce Decker and featuring Bruce and Burton harmonizing throughout. Slow ballad similar to a Beach Boys song released on a REO 45, but never re-issued.)
7. "Love Is All Around" (Another by The Guess Who from the radio/TV days, this time covering The Troggs hit.)
8. "Miss Felicity Grey" (Recorded and released by The Guess Who in Britain, but never issued elsewhere.)
9. "I Need Your Company" (The Guess Who from the Coca-Cola sponsored A WILD PAIR album supplied to The Clubhouse on CD by yours truly. An obvious favorite of Burton's who has played it several times on the air, since receiving it less than 2 weeks ago. An album never re-issued in any form.)
10. "Tribute To Buddy Holly" (The very first Chad Allan & The Reflections 45 issued. Released on Canadian/American Records in 1962, this is an exceptional single for a young band from the prairies. Probably the best of many Holly tributes recorded at the time.)

Let's all hope Burton's album planning goes smoothly in L.A. and that when he returns to The Clubhouse next time he has even more good news to spread. As always, I'll let you know when and if...

Scott- Can't tell you how much your posts mean to me. As a fan of over 30 years here in the US. I used to go to the library and look at Billboard magazine every week for GW info. There was very little written back then. This is a dream come true for us lifelong fans. By the way, I have a tape of Burton doing a terrific song that I think is called Up To the Minute which is very good. Anyway, thanks again Scott and keep those posts comming!

DP- if you go to billboard online (www.billboard.com ) and put Guess Who in the search, there are several lps that Billboard reviewed there. Artificial Paradise , Paramount, Share THe Land, Rockin. They all gush over Burton's voice and are all positive reviews.

Thanks Scott for your great updates! Have you recorded any of the broadcasts and/or songs? If you have perhaps (with permission from management) some of us could get copies. Just a thought.
