I must agree with the previous poster, I absolutely love that tune. A close second is the studio version. I can't help but crank up the volume when the solo starts. I must agree somewhat about the quality of the tune star baby. I remember the day when I was patiently awaiting the first play on the radio. Some of you ORIGINAL fan club members will recall geting notice of the airplay release date ahead of time. It was thrilling to know that it would be played on a certain day and not know what it was going to sound like. Nimbus 9

I love Star Baby. Always have and always will. Whenever I hear it, it puts me back in my senior year of high school, which was my best year in HS.
By the way, its a very tricky song to sing, patricularly in the parts where Burton crams a lot of words into a small segment:...can I take your picture in the park with silk and satin on? But then, he is a master of singing very fast when the occasion warrants it.

The ultimate example being "Shiny Stockings", of course.

I joined that fan club from the address on RFood, so I missed the advance notice. As I recall, TGW did "Star Baby" & "Straighten Out" (& "Undun" with Burton singing the bridge a little differently) on The Midnight Special well before "Star Baby" hit the airwaves, at least in Chicagoland--maybe we picked it up later during its long ride on the charts where it hit at different times in different regions--which explains its low #43 or so overall Billboard peak. That Mid Special appearance was just before the white suits.
