Whoah! This group's whole thing was focus on the music ,it goes against their history, beliefs. Semi quote Burton (from memory not exact) "the best thing about UCAA is there's no gimmick."

The GW were not about laser shows, fancy dancers, dancin' around stage in hot pink spandex pants. They were a meat and potaotes band whose focus was The Music.
I don't think that's changed, should change. All we need is those guys on a stage and the music. That's their legacy and their greatest gift to us.

I wasn't talking about making this into a circus, no "Welcome To My Nightmare", or in any way detracting from the men & their music. A stage environment that befits & compliments Rock 'n' Roll Royalty can be minimalist at the same time that it communicates that this is a world-class operation. Just as Burton softened his views on Glam-rock from #10 to his favorable reference to May & Mercury on the MOWTR notes, we can ditch those reactionary views and be aware that dressing up oneself & stage is not a sellout. The concert will be a celebration-fireworks, i.e. laser lights, big screens, plumes of smoke...why not? Let's not be half-a$$ed & boring about this.

Half-assed & boring? I'm sorry, but I would find a laser light show and fireworks distracting from my purpose of attending - that is, to hear some of the greatest songs and musicians of all time. If I want lasers I'll go to the planetarium. In my view, the Guess Who are beyond these theatrics (imagine a Paul Simon or Dylan concert with such grandiosity).
The Guess Who's music will never be construed as half assed or boring (yes, I know that's not the context that you wrote in) but many of us just wanna hear them play. (And I don't, for a second, buy the argument that the theatrics will enhance - I've been to enough concerts and can discriminate which bands need them and which bands don't).

It sounds like you're expecting a Rolling Stones type stadium tour Dan. I'm not sure that's realistic, is it? Yes, they're gods in our eyes, but can they sell those kind of numbers. A clean stage with decent lighting along with a three-hour show would be aplenty!
