Subject: My apologies

I'm sorry to hear this bad news. I lost my step-father to a battle with cancer, so I know the pain and torment its putting you through.

My advice is to not spend time blaming, cursing, or questioning God, and to not spend time attempting to strike deals with a malign trickster that does nothing but renege on It's end of the bargain. Instead, spend as much time as you can with your mother. Talk about all the things you can and say what you need to say. When the words run out, be there for her and be there for yourself. There are still many things which I had said to my step-dad... things I wished to apologize to him for. We didn't always see eye-to-eye and I had more than my share of words with him. I never did get up the courage to tell him that moving our family to Vermont was one of the best things that ever happened to me. I always acted like I hated it.

With hope, luck, and a bit of faith, she may pull through. Nothing is sure in life, afterall. Give her the will, support and strength to pull-through this. But if these are her last moments, make them happy for both of your sakes.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

- Aaron
