Unless otherwise marked, label everything below as droppings from the rumourmill. I know a couple of them are fact, but I can't remember which (the few true tidbits being from various magazines I've read in the past months).

- Returning cast: Solid Snake, Otakon, Liquid Snake ("But didn't he die?" Yah, but Kojima was quoted as saying he'll be back again in this one... flashback maybe?), Ocelot, Solidus Snake

- You will be able to acquire a tranquilizer gun this time around (so you can actually complete the game with 0 enemy deaths).

- Storyline follows the theft of Metal Gear Ray (the funkiest looking MG to every set foot outside a factor), a prototype Metal Gear that was designed to destroy all the other Metal Gear units. After the end of MGS, Ocelot took the Metal Gear design info he stole and sold it to the highest bidders. This resulted in a glut of Metal Gears created by a number of countries/corporations. The Metal Gear Ray unit was created to destroy the other Gears, but is stolen pretty early on by members of Ocelot's terrorist crew. Since Snake is still trying to save the world, I'm guessing he didn't get the girl and thus the 'bad ending' of MGS was the true one.

- The primary location of the game is New York City. I haven't heard if there are other locations, but I would expect it (since you're not infilitrating an Alaskan missile base this time; you're trying to retrieve/destroy Metal Gear Ray).

- The world will be more interactive. Shoot a can off a shelf and it may fall or maybe you'll just puncture a hole in it and leak fluids all over the place. Don't want the guards to notice one of their peers that you've offed/knocked unconscious? Stuff them in a locker. Got some time to kill? Knock a bucket of ice over and watch the ice melt in realtime.

- You will be able to go into first person mode for shooting. You will also be able to move in first person mode.

- I've heard people arguing about whether or not Ocelot has his hand back (if you remember, it was cut off in MGS). The pictures I've seen seem to indicate he does (not that anyone really cares).

- Series creator Hideo Kojima has been quoted as saying this will be the last Metal Gear game ever.

- The plan currently is to try and get back the Playstation game voice cast for the in-game acting. No word on how successful this has been thus far. Pure speculation on my part: I think it's going to be tough to get the guy who did Snake's voice back now that he's being considered a hot-shot writer thanks to his work on the X-men movie. His agent'll probably demand more money and Konami will say take a hike (since the game's budget is already estimated at $10-12 million).

- Don't get shot. If you do, there's a chance that you'll start leaving bloodmarks on the floor as you move and the guards do know how to follow that type of trail very well...
