These next couple of pageants could prove crucial to both newbies and returnees alike. After a year at the state pageant she was much more confident and poised, she carried herself better and understood how to handle some difficult situations. So while newbies are nice, the young ladies with some experience also help the newbies along and give them something to strive for. What makes this system great, is the mix of young ladies that we draw in. Some small local pageants have a contestant that has no idea what she is getting herself into while, larger open pageants draw the contestants with some time under their belt. Savannah was not eligible to compete for Atlantic County. She lives in cape may courtly. She just competed in Miss Ocean City. She does attend Stockton college I believe but she has not been a full time student for 6 months. Which is required if your competing for a title based on college status. Subject: Just a question..... NJOT has done extremely well in the past years at MAOT..... Is the OT prep team different from the Miss prep team. I know that the two competitions are different, but how can there be such a distinct difference between the two?

And the past several years, I hate to say it, have been unspectacular. Except for Victoria Paige and Jill Horner and Jennifer Farrell, they were the most successful as they made the final/semi-finals at Miss America and to a slightly lesser extent Kathy Nejat and Alicia Luciano. I don't have the answer, you cannot blame Silvia anymore. Where is the leadership? And the marketing? And guidance? Unless NJ adapts a "big state" mentality, then I doubt we will have someone placing very high... It was rumored that they were in dire straights with money after Mallory's homecoming, and that this year was to be their rebuilding year for budget. They did not expect another Miss A, Nina is the one who gets full credit. Well, she and her prep team. Her family has the resources to provide her with coaches and what's necessary to win. Also factor in that she was 1st runner up at MAOT a few years ago. She had what it takes, period. I know this board is infamous for cruelty and I myself have been impacted by it in the past but I am here to tell you that you don't need to listen to those negative people. I was surprised and saddened that NJ did not make top 15 last night. Really the candelabra ? Her gown didn't fit properly, and her onstage question was weak. Everyone's opinion will be different, but there's little nuggets of wisdom in each person's opinion. It's your job to find them. Take bits and pieces from each and every person you respect and trust and you'll be a well rounded, well prepared constetant. For example past NJs have had good wardrobes but could use alterations, different accessories, etc. Much more practice is needed! The cream of the crop so to speak, so while Cara (or any of our Miss NewJerseys) are the perfect Miss America in our eyes, every state feels the same way. There is absolutely no shame in not being called into the top 15, there are 38 states in the same situation! Also, Lindsey Petrosh, Andi, Kaitlynn, Ayla and Olivia are all former teens with volunteerism platroms. Why is this such a popular platform for our former teens?

I am not a big fan of the Volunteerism Platform, but it is popular. It seems like some girls participate in several different volunteer groups, and cannot choose one in particular. Volunteerism is all encompassing, allowing them to do any type of community service and report it as part of their platform. (NT) -- I like the more specific causes and organizations. Why can't you give up your title and then compete the next week for a different title and let someone else have a shore title, then come back and compete for that title next year, are the directors really that great that you need that shore title? Let someone else have a chance.

For your information there is only one girl competing in this pageant who already has one of the three titles. (And by the way, she is breaking no rules!) everyone else on the contestant list is eligible for all three of the titles. I believe that you can NOT be 25 before December 31st of the year you would be competing at miss America If you were to win miss NJ. So thar would mean that girls competing now and are currently 23 can't have a birthday before the new year - 2104. -- Am I understanding that correctly?, 16:46:16 07/31/13 Wed From what i can find online: "A contestant must be between the ages of 17-24 years of age. A high school graduate and no older than twenty-four (24) years of age on December 31, 2014 (for Miss America 2015)." And it goes on to further say: Must be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the G.E.D. testing program for high school equivalency or have successfully completed the academic requirements for entry into a four-year college/ university degree program by July 30th immediately preceding the National Finals. Subject: Lisa even though what you said is good. But I still think the girls father should of been allowed to judge. Because now if the girl wants to compete again I feel it gives her an extra chance due to the fact her father can ask the other judges what her daughter needs to win. I would of been fine, if the father of the contestant was aged out. New Jersey never follows the rules and we wonder why we always have the same bording girls get up on the Miss NJ stage and never do well at Miss America. If we want to change our results, we most follow rules. Which I believe will never happen sadly in this state.

First let me start by saying once again that this girl will NOT be competing this pageant season and IF she decides to compete next pageant season, her father or family member will be prohibited to sit Judges Chair. As far as �asking the judges what his daughter needs�, I�m not relatively certain what you mean. The judges did not see this particular girl compete so therefore could not offer adequate advice. Also, the judges chair person does not speak to the judges other then the day of the pageant. Bottom line is NO RULES WERE BROKEN! I am adamant on making sure everything is bonafide and executed properly. Once again, if you have any other concerns, please call me directly (my telephone number is on the official Miss New Jersey website) and I would be glad to discuss your concerns with you. But yes I read it because there is also some good information on here occasionally! As a long time room mother,4-H and collegiate sports Mom, I can tell you that it is VERY difficult to get volunteers. It is often the same people. Bob may be one of the most honest auditors you could hever find he would not in any way influence the outcome of a pageant he was auditing. He is always there to help these girls, supporting them with his time, food, security, and monetarily (we all know how lucky he is with basket raffles!) PLEASE Click in this rant continues

I only know many of the girls as acquaintances, but most seem to work pretty hard giving back to their community. I believe this system is more for growth, achievement and friendship. If that is what my daughter gets out of it, I am happy. There can only be one Miss NJ every year, which doesn't mean the other girls are not wonderful, beautiful and smart. It means that is the one the judges chose for that year. Yes, hind sight is 20/20 and we know many of these girls better than judges can get to know them in a 10 minute interview. BUT that is the way the system is structured, the judges choose, not the audience or the parents. Today you "paid" for that opinion. If you "pay" for another one tomorrow, it will most likely be different. I don't always agree with the judges, and when I judge events I am sure everyone doesn't agree with my choice. Its the nature of the beast. I feel like this is a good organization, and is run well by many dedicated volunteers. Just like every organization, people will always have something to say...Make it a good day,or not! The choice is yours!

They deserve to have their accomplishments posted on Facebook and a legitimate website. These are two simple fixes that shouldn't take longer than a couple of hours.
