I read the contract but still have a question. We live in North Jersey, my daughter goes to school in North Jersey, but I have a shore home in Ocean City, is my daughter able to compete in a local that is a closed pageant or does she have to actually live in Ocean City for the 6 months. Please explain this to me.
Thank You

You must abe a full time resident of the county or region for which that pageant is accepting contestants.
[> Subject: You need some kind of verification of residence. So most girls who live in the state use their license. You could also use something like a lease. I am pretty sure girls have done this in the past. I would say ask one of the field directors this question. They know all the rules and would be able to help you best.

According to the contract, residency must be established for 6 months prior to the pageant date and must be verifiable through a driver's license, paid lease, etc. If you can prove she actually resides at that address for the 6 months prior then she is eligible. Take note though that there is no such thing as dual residency--she can't claim to have residency at your home in North Jersey to compete in a North Jersey closed pageant and also claim residency in Ocean City to compete in a closed pageant in that region at the same time. If she chooses to "reside" in Ocean City then she would need to have verifiable information proving this for the period prior but she then forfeits her residency claim in North Jersey. The only way to establish dual eligibility is to "reside" (i.e. legal residence proven by driver's license) in one area and go to school in a different area. In this case, a girl who lives in Bergen County and goes to school at Rowan can compete in both closed pageants in Bergen County region pageants and pageants closed to those in the Gloucester County area. In her case, if she lives in North Jersey and goes to school in North Jersey then the only way to establish Ocean City residency is to change her driver's license over to the Ocean City address and provide proof of residency that way.
