Subject: Rogers (Toronto) setup

I've put together a Canton3 using rev7t1a with a f870. It's on a breadboard right now and so far I can't get it to lock on an unscrambled channel. Any one know if this circuit is too sensitive to operate on a breadboard? I've adjusted the cap and was able to get a two second lock on channel 71 (scrambled) and intermitent locks on unscrambled channels. But never longer than two seconds. When it did lock on channel 71 the picture was black and white and offset to the upper right.

I've adjusted the video gain pot to 220ohms and set the clamp, burst, and output pots to the middle of their ranges. Is there a good range I should set these pots to? I tried switching the 10kohm resistor in the oscillator with an 8.2kohm with no success. I read in a previous post that it shifted the oscillator frequency higher.

I think it isn't locking continuously because I can't adjust the variable capacitor in small enough increments. I know the PIC works because I reprogrammed it to flash the LED on and off. I then adjusted the cap across it's full range and the LED continued to flash.

Any ideas? Jain, Vlad, what settings do you use with your canton3?

Thanks
Pokey
