Hey Joe,

If you want a PIC16F84A, most electronic component sellers (Digikey, Mouser, Arrow, etc.) have them - they are made by Microchip.

For the SX18s, they work great! The SX can run the existing PIC 16C5X codes in compatible mode. There are also faster SX specific turbo codes. The SX 20 MHz OSC circuit needs to be modded with the 1M resistor and also a couple other part changes. For running at 50 MHz, everything but the clock osc/resonator gets removed.
