This should fix virtually all AGC problems (streaks/shadows & unlocking on high contrast changes) but may need to be matched to your particular IF chip for best results. The capacitor should be a small value say 0.01 uF ceramic or something like that as it has about 50 uSecs to charge to the sample voltage.
