Subject: eggs

I bought my cocketeil when she was 12 weeks old (hand-fed)
We thought she was a male. She is almost four years old now. She is real docile, out out of her cage most of the time. She is strongly bonded to me, but loves my husbans also. Last Spring she began to lay eggs (what a surprise).
She layed three separate times, 4,4 and 3 eggs. This year
she is laying again almost every month. At least 3 eggs, sometimes 4. Is this normal and how long will she lay them. She has not been bred, we don't want to breed her.
She is very ill a few days before she lays and about drives me crazy. Is there any way to stop her from laying.
