Subject: Retired Musicians Needed - Winter in Florida

Hi, I'm a coordinator for a Naples, Florida big band made up of retirees, many of whom had long careers with military bands. The band's founder has around 1,200 big band charts from the big band era (e.g., the Dorseys, Stan Kenton, Les Elgart, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, etc.). The band members live all around the country and, when they come down to Southwestern Florida, they play for the winter tourists down here.

Right now, we're looking for two key musicians to start practicing with the band in September. The total band runs around to around 17 people with the vocalists, but we all practice and perform locally with no expectation of getting paid (yet). Our first big performance this season is in November at a church in Bonita Springs. We need a new drummer and a keyboard player who can read music and who are familiar with the old big band sound.

Are there any retirees in your organization who spend the winter in Florida who'd like to join us? I'd sure like to get in touch with them!

I can guarantee that the musicians in the group are really nice, the music's terrific, and the crowds down here love it!

Thanks for responding.

I'm a retired musician, some time in the military, taught school after words.
I'm relearning my skills, having not played or worked for some years, anyway, I spend alot of my time doing arrangements of tunes that interest me. Using them as learning tools.
My arrangements have been played by a university band close and I got to perform with the warn up band on a show with the group D'Rivera when they here.
Anyway,Not coming to Fl soon, but, would send an arrangement if you'd like to hear it. Having fun doing relearning.
Bob
