Subject: 1st Combat Infantry Band

My name is George Crowder and I live in South San Francisco,California. I just received information of your website and was thrilled to see information about the 1st Combat Infantry Band under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer, Chester E. Whiting. This was in the year of 1945. I was a member of the band and my rank was sergeant (T4). I was the popular vocalist of the band and also participated in a drum act which I see the US Army Field Band is still using. I still have a lot of information about the 1st combat Infantry Band and I have pictures of when we appeared at Carnegie Hall as well as old programs of various performances. I am 83 years old and still singing. My e-mail address is georgex2@juno.com. I know its been 60 years but I'm hoping to hear from someone soon.Thank you and hope someone finds this of interest.

Mr. Crowder --

It's good to hear that there are still some FCIB members around. Possibly you can help me answer a query I just got.

Was there a member of the FCIB named Anthony Buonpane? After the war he was a HS band director in Ohio, and one of his former students asked the Field Band to verify his assignment. He passed away last week.

If you have any old programs or rosters, his name might be there. Please let me know if you have any information.

My office phone is 301-677-5780, and the email address is michael.culbertson@us.army.mil

Thanks for your help, and thanks for your service.

SGM Mike Culbertson
