BSL Updates:

-AKC Updates- AKC has posted the April edition of the Taking Command Newsletter on their
website...http://www.akc.org/love/dip/legislat/ta king_command.cfm
If you look back at the taking command newsletters you will find quite a few cities have
repealed legislation

-Baltimore, MD- Maureen is still waiting for a copy of the new ordinance from Baltimore.

-Wassau, WI- Sue posted an article to the ABBA board. She think WI is going to have more problems in
Wassau.

-AKC Updates- AKC has posted the April edition of the Taking Command Newsletter on their
website...http://www.akc.org/love/dip/legislat/ta king_command.cfm

-Wilmington, NC- BSL is still be considered in Wilmington NC. You can read about it on Taking Command.
Maureen will send them a package with a letter from ABBA. Grayson will be the
contact in North Carolina. E-mail Maureen at
sertoma698@aol.com with your addy and phone
number. If you look under Breeder links on the PurebredPuppy homepage you will find
some kennels in N.C.

- Bellevue, NE- Taking Command says Bellevue may not be over. They are still considering banning the
APBT. Although the ordinance is not BSL, pitbulls may be shot if found loose off their
property. Police and animal control officers would be authorized to shoot loose pit bulls.
Dorothy has not heard from Heath Mondragon. He was not at the Kansas City Dog
show. Sue has been contact with him. Maureen asked Dorothy for her snail addy and she will
get the information packet out to her tomorrow.

-Indianapolis, IN- Gina stated there has been BSL in Indianapolis. Indianapolis passed a law for
having any kind of treadmill, breakstick, spring pole or anything related to training
" pit bull type dogs". Gina will look into it to see if anyone is in contact with the
city council. Jim thought that the law in Indiana was amended to remove BSL. Sue stated
Indiana was a state law. Gina will post on the apbt list for Indiana and get some information
from some the people on there. Gina has not contacted AKC or UKC yet and will post
her findings to ABBA Board and The BSL Forum. Sue stated, Indiana should be in the
ABBA archives on page 3.
-Villisca, Iowa- Dorothy announced that Villisca has a city council meeting next week. She will be attending.
Ruth Gay's daughter is going to speak to them about their bsl. It sounds like Ruth may have
some of Villisca's city council memers on her side.

-Omaha, NE- Sue stated Omaha is having a problem with dogfighting.

State Reports:
-Michigan - Good news in Taking Command Newsletter.
http://www.akc.org/love/dip/legislat/tcapril02.cf m

-Connecticut - Proposed ordinance states an owner may not keep a dog outside longer than 30 minutes under
45 degree temperature. It doesn't take kennel buildings into consideration and what's with 4
hours out of a day indoors?

-Virginia- Maureen found out that in certain areas of Virignia although it is a NO BSL state, localities mandate
that APBTs and other endangered breeds be muzzled and on lead.

-New Jersey- Maureen stated the same is happening in New Jersey. She received information from people at
the UKC show, yesterday.

-Florida- Hernando County - Lisa is going to the meeting, but she does agree with them.

New Business:
Maureen e-mailed the AKC regarding ABBA...explaining who we are and what we are. She has asked that ABBA be recognized as a grass roots organization and stated that ABBA supports them and the ADOA in their fight against BSL. Maureen also asked them for materials. In addition, she asked for information on the new children's program about kids and dogs.

Jim offered to see if the AADR (All American Dog Registry) wants to help out. Also, it was brought to his attention that the EBA (Endangered Breed Association) has a coloring book on their website. It can downloaded from the computer.

Grayson asked about holding a bull breed show. Grayson has contacted some people about it and they said it would be possible.

UKC Premier in June - Kalamazoo MI - huge show, thurs- sunday, including an APBT specialty. There will be
a weight pull and everything. There should be many bull breed people there.

Brags and Announcements:

Jaime - Salt City Cluster - Syracuse, NY - Sonny finished on Friday..3 point major from Bred-by. He was
placed WD & BOW. Dustin made the first cut in Jr's and finished 6 out of 17 with
Dana's Am Staff. Willie got BOB Vet & Group !....with competition!

Ruth - Took BOW with Squeak yesterday at a UKC show. BOW, with a puppy she bred, for the first show
that day. She also achieved a class win today and a pup i bred won the champion class. Ruth hand
painted the beautiful vases, with different breeds on them, as trophies for the event.

Maureen - My Tommy, handled by DeAndre for me, got his class and he showed really well. Sierra got a
second, but I though the Judge was blowing her off so great.

Lora - Junior didn't show this weekend- he's resting up for next weekend, I guess! MeMe is in agility trials next
weekend, with WPKA's show. She only needs one more leg for her NA title.

Jim - I'm going to an AADR fun show next weekend. Jane is ready to chew gum and kick ass. Only she's
leaving her gum home. I say we give it up for Denise and her article for the paper this week.

The meeting is adjourned at 10:11 PM EST

Respectfully Submitted,

Peggy Doster
