Brethren:

First off, let me say my prayers are with you all.

Secondly, I am disappointed with a couple of the answers here, not because of any disagreement, but because of the
underlying venom in a couple of them. The original point was to help support this brother in his hour of need, not to cause dissension among us...something the Scriptures warn us about... nor to accuse the brother or anyone who answered him in Christian love of impropriety.

Third, nowhere in my post did I attempt to demonize KJV or assume any pious standing over past Biblical scholars (who themselves have had this very argument for centuries). All I said was that some things had been changed or omitted, and that God would not allow us to be without what was needed for our salvation.

I simply had it brought to my heart to tell Brother Kurt that he is no less when he questions than any of us, any who...as we all do...fall short of the Glory of the Lord.

As to Brother Kurt's question as to whether we need the Bible to believe in God...the Scriptures themselves say that even those who have not heard the Gospel would see His Glory in all that is around him and are without excuse. So, of course we do not "need" the Bible to realize there is a God and that He is all-powerful and all-merciful.
Why we do need it, however, is in the Salvation of Jesus Christ. No one comes to the Father except through Him, and if we do not know Him, we do not know He who sent Him.

Brother Kurt, I feel in my heart that you are simply having doctrinal issues right now,not Spiritual ones, and that eventually faith and prayer will lift you up and give you peace. You are so right when you say that man reads into it what he will...and this is to his detriment. If man cannot read the heart of man, how then, is he to know the heart of the Lord? I say this with my heart and hands open to you. I will pray that you continue to seek and find your faith where the Lord wishes it to be, not the will of man.

Peace be with you all.
