Please forgive me for not replying to this sooner, as I've been offline for a couple of days.

Please let me be clear. Of course different languages come in to play; after all, it was God Himself who first confused man's languages at the tower of Babel. Several points remain, however:

1) Mohammed, who first began to call God "Allah", was a decendent of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham, who did NOT call God "Allah"...it was not a linguistic issue, but the forming of a new religion, formed in fact after the coming of the Christian age, with a new tenet and a new God. They are not the same. A monotheistic belief does not imply that the object of worship is the same. I refer again back to Elijah in which he taunted the people for worshipping Baal...another monotheistic belief.

2) The Scriptures are very clear throughout re: the Name of God, and these Scriptures were, at the time, available in the language Mohammed spoke.

3) The Bishop's intent is to please man no matter what God told him to do.

While it is true that God will not cease to be God no matter what people call Him, it is also true that He is a jealous God,(by His own Word) and demands that we worship Him only through His Son. There is no other way.

1 Kings 18: 20-39
