Greetings Chaplain Craig.

I am very familliar with the Way of the Master program.

It is very...in your face type of evangelizing. Although it has some wonderful logic lead in questions, I am finding that one of the most powerful keys is a "relational" connection. The old saying, "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, is really true. Many have been wounded by those who were more concerned about "feeling righteous" than reaching the heart of a wounded soul. There was an evangelist in our city not to long ago. Rodney Howard Brown, and apparently he had some mega wittnessing tag team event or something, almost like a contest who can bring back the most names of people they got to say a prayer. (And I suspect add to their mailing list) A team of two basically ran up on my son who was visiting from Chicago and tried to get him to say the sinners prayer and give them his name (all withing the first 30 to 40 SECONDS) THEN one of them says, I'm new at this so I "PRACTICING ON YOU". So let me throw this out. If you were an agnostic, or one who had been hurt by religious hypocricy and got jumped by a couple making you feel like the last prize in the amazing race, would that draw you to Jesus? Even after I told them I was a Pastor, they went on as if they had to TAG one more person to put on their list, before the evening service.

What I have found is that people want a sincere, diaglogue, and one with some academic integrity. What does that mean? WIth most agnostics, and especially athiests, their frustration is in the fact that every time a question is asked (which many are sincerely wanting an answer) we throw a bunch of scripture at them without ever answering the core of the question. To them it would be like us asking a question of faith sincerely, and them someone saying ...."Well in Macabies 3:12, or In Sura 2:16 it says..
It would mean nothing to us.

I hope this makes sense. If you want a great site on Apologetics with a WIDE range of outreach resources, go to RAVI ZACHARIUS.com or RZIM.com GOOD STUFF. Scriptural, Intellectually sound, and answers hard questions head on.

Always remember. Without LOVE....we are nothing but clanging symbols, making noise. People will sense your Love for them long before they hear your words.

GOd bless
Rev. Mark MCManus
