Subject: Scenario / Seeking Advise and Prayer

Here’s a scenario:

You have a friend that has drastically changed in the last 6 weeks, when some of his old friends came back into the picture. You suspect your friend is hanging around the wrong crowd, and possibly doing stuff he should NOT be doing.

Your friend is actually the youngest son (17 years old) of your best friend. The son is like a younger brother to you, and you do not want to see him get into trouble, hospitalized or even killed. You have witnessed some issues going on, and have confronted the teen about it, but he does not listen. You go to his older brother and even have a discussion with your best friend, the father – but they do not see it. The mother of the teen has asked you repeated times if you know about these new friends. When you tell her your “gut-feeling”, she says that she needs PROOF POSITIVE, and must witness it herself.

In the meantime, the teen has lost all trust in you and never wants to speak to you again – because you “stabbed him in the back”, which is tearing you up inside – because you considered him family and truly care for him. For the last 2 weeks, other people have been talking with you about the teen, and advising you of more issues going on (possible drug usage, pre-marital sex, seeking out to hurt others, etc.). HOWEVER, they will NOT go to the parents or the teen in fear of retaliation from the teen and his friends.

If you go to the parents, it will be strictly “hearsay” – and none of the people that came to you will back it up. The teen has convinced his family that YOU have no idea what you are talking about, and that you are a liar. The information that has been brought to your attention is very serious, and could cause injury to the teen. However, without someone backing you up, the parents are likely to look away. WHAT DO YOU DO (other than pray to the Father for the safety of the teen – who you consider family)?

**********

The above scenario is actually happening as I type this message. This ordeal is tearing me up, because the teen is a good person. I believe he has fallen into a “trap”. PLEASE pray for this teen (whom I still care for and still consider family), the parents and myself. Pray that God will give wisdom and that His will be done.
