Hello Jeff,
It is not my position to correct any statement that may have offended some. The verbage may have seemed harsh but it was one person's statement and we all make statements that can seem offensive to some. Lets not dwell on a single statement but try to take in the overall thought of a person's post instead.

UCMI's statement on ministerial giving is simply this: That a portion of your regular giving be directed towards your ministerial covering.

UCMI does not set any percent or amount but requires this to be in compliance with civil law. The law states that for a minister's license to be considered valid they must be in regular support of their covering body.

Further it states that a minister must be in regular communion (communication) with their covering body. This is the reason for the Annual Report. This meets this requirement of civil law.

'Dead Weight' I guess, would be someone who does not believe that they need to meet any requirements set down with regards to their licensure or ordination.

In ministry it is a required state that we have thick skin and not easily offended. It is not an easy task sometimes but it is necessary. Do not be offended by a single phrase that hits you wrong. Show instead the grace that the Lord provided you with.

God bless.

Yours in Christ,
Brother Steve
UCMI
