He listens intently, eager to hear what has happened in her life since he left. His eye softens momentariy as she mentions her heirs, but as he begins to ask her more of them she abruptly changes the subject, directing it back onto himself. He does not miss the sadness lying just underneath her reserve and so chooses not to question her. "Places I have no wish to return to," He answers her swiftly and not without bitterness. He narrows his eye for a moment and looks behind her into the distance. He takes a second as he thinks how best to answer her before refocusing his gaze back onto her face. "No one really wants a wolf into their pack who can't mind his place." He cracks a smile, showing worn but incredibly sharp teeth. The truth was, after he'd left the tundra he'd wandered alone, occasionaly finding other packs, but most of them already well-formed. Although some did offer him a place he'd always felt like an outsider, never really feeling truly comfortable with his role in the pack. Some he'd come across were more hostile and in those moments, when he'd found himself in a territory where he was not wanted, he'd often fought for his life. In all honesty he simply wasn't cut out to be a follower. "I wish I had more to show for my wanderings, but I come back as I left. With just myself," this last bit is said with a sadness he doesn't try to hide. Unlike Mist he has no heirs. There never was and now it looks as though there never will be.
