I think they stock mainly watercooled stuff but they will get you A/C parts in to order but from what I remember you have to be sharpish going to collect them otherwise they send them back to the depot.

As for garages, the only VW friendly garage I know about that I haven't also heard any complaints about is School Lane service station, Bamber Bridge.

DIY is the way to go IMHO. I shouldn't really say this here but for aircooled tech advice search out the VZI Mech Tech forum, lots of very helpful and knowledgeable folks there. But get yourself a manual first though !
