Subject: Volkswagen T4 1996 - Seat Swivel & Safety Belt Problem

Hi,

Looking for help please.

My ludite bro has a Volkswagen 1996 T4 and is trying to fit a fasp seat swivel. But he's not very practical either, so he's struggling ith what order to fit everything as he says he can't swivel the seat because of the seat belt thing! Can anyone send me some instructions and hopefully some photos so I can go and help him sort it please?

Hi folks -

I'm happy to say that although everybody's memberships expired last year and the committee was never reinstated last November, we now have made a fresh start and have elected some new blood onto the committee so we can start afresh.

We will be writing to those who have been members in the last 2 years inviting them to the latest club meeting so they can re-join if they wish. The next meeting is Thursday 17th May.

There will be more detailed information sent to those on the New Lancs email list in the next week or so, before the club meeting on Thursday. If you want to join the club email list, please email me with your full name and email address.

If you are already on the list, you will have had at least 2 emails from me this week. If you haven't then I don't have your correct address, so please get in touch and let me know.

ive finished my collage course and decided to 'test' what i've learn't and now need help.Recently stripped down an 1986 golf dohc k-techtronic f.e.i-ignition lump and have tarted it up 2 put in a g reg mk2 shell. need wiring instuctions on how to wire the under bonnet loom (inc. f.e.i brain and switch) to the up to date fuse box if any 1 could help would be most grateful.

I have a missfire on my mk4 v5 golf, changed the spark plugs,leads and put new coil pack on but still getting no spark from number 2 on the coil pack a friend said the ignition amp may need cleaned or replaced but I can't seem to locate this anywhere on the engine (agz) so I know it's not the plugs,leads or coil pack can anyone help PLEASE.

I just bought a 74 super beetle and need to get the seats out so I can explore moving the mounts back 2-3". Has anyone done this? I am 6'2 1/2 250lb 62 yr old male and need to get in and out better.

Bought a 71 super beetle new in 1971 and dealer made adjustment for us before we took the car out of dealership.

Now I'm much old and not much wiser.

Hello, this is the problem we're having. My friend goes out to turn her car on in the morning, (2001 VW bettle) and it starts up but then immediately turns off again. I know very little about cars so I wasn't of much help to her, but I know how to ask people that do have some knowledge of her particular car. If anyone else has experienced this problem and has a solution for it please do let me know, thanks in advance.

I have a 1988 Caravelle Syncro with the 2.1 Water Cooled Engine. Sometimes the Engine 'labours' and then after a few minutes, cuts out as if by Fuel Starvation. Turn off and wait about 5 minutes and it starts and runs with no problem. Sometimes it will run for hours and hours without cutting out, other times after running for 1/2 hour the enging labours and cuts out. It does not seem to be ambient temperatute dependant (as I initially thought). I have been told that it may possably be an overheating fuel line ? Has anyone had a similar problem ???? Can U Help ?

Can anybody figure this one out? I got smoke when I replaced the glow plug relay with the engine running. The replacement had seven prongs and the original had like 5. The secondary (solenoid) contacts apparently fried instantly. 5 seconds later the engine quit. Now engine wont start--lights on Instrument panel light then a second later shut down and 2 seconds later fuel guage works and engine light on. Saw all lights on initially for a brief. Original relay put back in but no apparent damage to wires or fuses. Interior of relays lok good. Interior lights work as do door locks. Any idea what the H... happened and what I can check to fixer? I will try vag com if I can find my cable. niner3d

i own a mk3 golf gti 2.0 litre 8v on a 97 p plate. just recently, i went to start it up but it will not turn over! it seems to me that the electronic immobiliser has kicked in somehow but i do not know what to do. the engine wants to turn over but something is not clicking into place to get it fired up. when i try to start it up the oil light starts flashing so if this is a warning sign then i may have done something to the engine.i have checked the handbook to see what may be wrong but to no avail.if any one can help me out then i will be very grateful! you can send any info to gazmortz@fsmail.net. thanks again

hi, new to the site. my father has a 1997 VW Golf 1.9tdi. pretty good motor too. recently encountered problem with glow plug coming on and car cutting out. he changed the fuel pump relay and ignition switch and now the warning light constantly flashes whilst running.
would love to know if anyone out there has encountered similar problem and knows how to rectify.

The car was inherited from my father in law 3 years ago and has sat in my garage ever since. The car has no tax or MOT as the floor pan needs some welding amongst other things. help, i,ve had the suspension struts renewed on the drivers side on my 98 passat 110 tdi ever since that it feels unsafe to drive if i go round a corner i think i,m going to lose it if i hit a bump in the road the whole car shakes my steering wheel vibrates at 55/60 mph the back end of the car seems to have a mind of its own. anybody any ideas on what i should do

The reason am unhappy is the only thing to stop me getting my motor on the road so if their is anyone out their with a polar white Volkwagon Golf karman 1.8 gti on a 87 D reg please could you send a fiew photos off under the bonnet shots so that i can sort out where the rubber pipes go its just that it would be ashame that i couldnt get it to go becaus of the pipe work so if anyone could help could you send afiew shots to my e mail address . Subject: Noisy accelaration on Sharan TDI

It has just started a "wherring noise" when I accelerate hard - stops once acceleration is complete. sounds like a toy car thats been wound up - being released. only lasts about 5 seconds. Is this a noisy turbo? Should I be worried?

Hi, i have a 2000 (w) LT 28 2.4 5 CYLINDER DIESEL, it makes the worst noise imaginable when on tickover or slow revs, but sound ok at high revs, it also is pouring oil from the back of one of the pulleys near to the top of the engine, also when ignition ( engine ) is turned off the engine stops instantly i.e there is no run-on, and it nearly rips itself off its mountings, all these probs started together. Can anyone please tell me what the problem might be ? ... it has only just had a complete head rebuild after the bottom pulley came loose and the cam belt jumped, but the recent noise sounds like it comes from the top of the engine !! i must confess to being completely stumped.

Then i noticed that the electric windows would randomly work and now i have discovered that on a night time when i am driveing the lamps that iluminate the electric window switches started to flicker so i worked out that when the lamps whent out the windows didnt work so yes you can guess it the lamps whent off and stayed off so now the central locking from the key fob will not work and the windows will not work and the car interior curtisy lights will not work. Can any one help i dont know much about car electrics but some one has told me that there could be a wire of and all of these things are in a loop and so if a wire has fallen off behined the door panel that is what is breaking the circuit

I am looking at a rspray for my T25. What should be a ballpark figure for a good job as I have been given wildly different quotes. I am looking at the whole of the bus below the windows uncluding the underseal.

There is rust (surface only) down the drivers side and inplaces at the front but apart from that the underside is ok as far as I can tell.

I've got a 51 reg ex AA Transporter & I'm looking for interior trim for it as it's a bit grubby & the dash is Swiss cheesed with screw holes.
I'm interested in are:
The whole dash panel less the clocks & heater controls etc. That means everything else that forms part of the dash, glovebox & brackets to make it fit, the panels down to the floor infront of the gearbox, black surround for the clocks, the lot.
Both front door trims/cards.
A base for a single front seat, must have sound foam but otherwise condition doesnt matter (I'd take a full seat)
The front section of headlining.
The cover for the heater intake above the battery.
The fuel filler flap.
I've heard much of the stuff inc the dash will fit from an earlier T4, I'm told the later clocks & controls will swap over.

Subject: VW Komet camper oil pressure buzzer problem

Mine has started to go off regularly when driving, when the revs fall below a certain level in all gears. I can stop it only by revving harder. It's been to three garages, had the pressure tested, new oil/filter, new sensers etc and no-one can tell me what's wrong. The auto electrician suggested a new dash as it could be the circuit board, but the revving thing makes me think this isnt the case. I had to retap and fit a new sump plug as the thread went, and the new pl;ug may protrude slightly into the sump (only a few mil) - again someone suggested this could be causing it (seems unlikely, but what do i know). Any advice very much appreciated cheers andy

Lily was stolen from Stockport, South Manchester in the early hours of Thursday 12th October. It's a 1993 high top T4 transporter. It's a Holdsworth Villa XL conversion and is in pretty good nick, with about 81,000 miles on the clock. I own a VW Polo 1.4 16V, year 1998. A few months back the drivers lock started to turn around 360 degrees, therefore not allowing me to lock the door from that side. I started to use the passengers lock to lock and unlock the car. However I'm starting to notice the same symptons and I'm afraid I'll have to start getting in throught the boot soon..!!!

Does anyone have any advice on fixing this problem?

A relative has a 1300 beetle for sale lying Runcorn. Think he wants �500 for it. To my knowledge it does not require any welding. It is M.O.Td and taxed (exempt). but battery is flat and dyno U.S. Runs O.K with a fully charged battery. Inside is tatty. and outside needs respray. Steering , brakes , and chassis sound. A spare dyno, 2 solid front and one rear wings included. Tyres good. However it is up to you to inspect and verify.

We are currently filming a docudrama for the BBC, and require a VW Beetle for one scene. It needs to be pre 1968 and would need to be driven to the lake district - which is the location for filming. All travel expenses would of course be refunded, you would receive a token fee, a 'with thanks' at the end of the film, as well as an end copy of the film. .....But!

I'm looking for a tax exempt VW campervan within about a 100 mile radius (or if right a bit further) of Keighley. now the even more difficult part

I want one with a solid chassis and good body work (no rot)

to bring the price down and to allow me to make it mine I want one with a scrappy or no interior. But i would prefer it to have a pop top with bunks.

I would also be interested in one with no engine or one that has had it as a engine rebuild or replacement isnt out of the question.

I would consider one with no/poor engine and no/scrappy interior but the price would have to reflect this

I have cash waiting but i'm not in a rush to buy but i want one sooner rather than later. as i want to use it next summer

hi im having allot of problems with my 68 bay, ive got to the point now where i just cant figure it all out,
Im so close to it being MOT ready i cant belive it, so to get it done, im willing to pay somone to sort it, all was working fine untill i got involed and broke the fuse board, so if your in the preston area PR3 3SU and wont charge me a fortune,

at the mo, things that work are,

indicators,
side lights,
brake lights,
headlamps,
wipers,
all really's are fine too,

Things which dont work,

no indicators while any of the lights are on,
theres no wires going to the dash lites for all the warning lights and all the lights on the dash actually,

no main beam,

everytning else that i cant think of proberbly works, ie it starts and charges, but its the technical stuff i cant seam to sort, ie why the indicators dont work when the lights are on, it also does'nt have a hazard swich which *should make it a bit easier,

its LHD 68 bay, ive got a good wiring diagram, but id say from where the front and the rear wiring looms come into the back of the fuse board thats where the good wiring stops! the fuse board wiring espcially to the back of the clocks is a right mess,

it needs a few lengths of wire, about 20 connectors,including a few of the really small ones fo the back of the dash lights, and about 3hrs of head scratching if you know what your doing, which i dont,

let me know as it needs sorting ASAP i want it MOTd as soon as possible,

the problem, on full speed, wipers operate ok, on slow or intermittent wipe wipers will go once or twice or so and then stop mid windscreen, for a while and then run again and then stop etc.etc.
i cannot get a book, i reckon there is an integrated cct on a board with a relay, somewhere, trouble is what is it and where is it and then i can fix it..

any ideas anyone please, i dont want to fork out another bucket load of money for something as simple as a 50p chip and a few pence relay. especially when i still have the intermittent ignition problem which cost me �400 not to fix.....

i have fitted a reconed e2litre engine to a vw type 2 i am having problems setting up the solex twin carbs .The one on the left as you look at it from rear will not adjust on the mixture screw. i have used a carb balancer on both carbs the reading is eratic compared to the other carb any ideas ps both are sealed well at manifold and will it make a difference where servo pipe goes

I�ve just had a phone call from an ex-club member called George Chisolm from Kendal.

His beetle has just failed it�s MOT (maybe heater channels, maybe floorpans, can�t be sure just by going from his description.)
It is a 1976 1200, George has owned it from brand new, and it has just 51,000 miles on the clock. It is all original and he has all the bills and history. It has always been garaged. The last few years he has averaged 1000 miles per year in it.

He is open to offers.

Sounds like a good restoration project or spares donor car.

I believe there is a would be owner out there who would bring it back to life. Instead I would like to use a brand new unleaded engine but it will have to be a VW to fit the trike. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a new 1300 or 1600 engine. I'll leave the original engine and bits to you guys' and gals' who appreciate the vehicle rather than just the engine.

So it has to go,(it's either that or lose the Beetle project car). The Audi has the 2 litre, 5 cylinder, one of the last of the non-catalyst unleaded petrol engines, 115 bhp with K-Jetronic Fuel injection, has 150 000 miles on it, (I drove it for 60 000 of them ), and still drives well, (cruised German autobahns at 110 mph), pale metallic blue, with grey interior. It's reliable, comfortable, clean and tidy, has 4 newish Avon tyres, regularly serviced with genuine Audi parts (not as expensive as you may think, if you get them from shows etc.), has run on VAG Synthetic oil for the last 60 000 miles, ever since I got it in 1996. Cambelt replaced 30 000 miles ago, lots of history, receipts etc., no rust (galvanised body), factory steel sunroof, electric windows, Witter towbar and electrics, remote central locking and alarm. factory radio cassette, and everything works. Taxed and MOT until April 2006, it's far too good to break for spares. Can supply photos if required. I'm only asking about �380 or make me an offer, as long as it goes to someone who can get good use from it. I'll keep it insured for a couple of weeks, so it can be test driven. Hi,

I've recently moved over from Germany bringing with me my lovely old (1981) LT28 camper van. I'm trying to get it registered in the UK but it needs a new bit of exhaust before it will past its MOT. Can anyone give me any ideas where I can get the 2nd exhaust box from? I've tried all sorts over the internet but all the specialist parts places I've found only deal with the smaller t2's... To get it from VW in germany would cost an absolute bomb and VW in the UK say they can't get it, even though I have a german part no. And help appreciated!

OK ish when doing 60 but an absolute pig when manouvreing - need to keep dipping clutch etc. Occasionally was every 2-3-4 weeks; now is neary every time. Have checked & tested & replaced & adjusted all HT bits in the past. Just checked everything again - all OK Im concluding it is fuel side - just cleaned carburettor with Wynns magic spray, checked all vacuum pipes, changed inline fuel filter. Im down to Carburettor; a Pierburg 2E with more tubes & wires coming off it than I can understand; or a box of matches Help - thoughts/ tips/ advice???????

I am trying to re-register my Seat Inca 1.9 d van in the UK after bringing it over from the Republic Of Ireland.

I am having difficulty obtaining information obtaining information regarding power engine speed as required on the form from VOSA.

I would be grateful if you could forward me the information or tell me where I could obtain it. I have tried various dealers in the North West but with no success.

The question is

"Maximum power engine speed: rpm (revolutions per minute)
(revolutions per minute at which maximum power is produced by the engine not maximum revolutions)"

The model is a Seat Inca 1.9 D (1997 model)

Whilst on a trip upto the lakes it cut out on me, everything went dead and I was coasting over to the hard shoulder. It them started up again and I thought it might be something to do with my immobliuzer but I have since replaced it. Hi ive spotted a sad looking beetle which should be saved, Im not a beetle man but a mk1 renault 5 turbo owner, but I cant stand to see a neglected motor, the car is a flat screen oval light model slight cal look low on empis. Its in a bit of a state, outside with passenger window missing interior appears to be leather, someone has spent some money on this car at some point in its life but now it just looks abandoned. Car is at the end of Victoria street Haslingdon. Owner lives at the house but wasnt present when I was there (im a plumber). If the car gets rescued please drop me a mail to let me know. Ta Spen

I have a 1959 Bug and although it has been restored I never messed with the rear suspension because I knew nothing about it. Just recently I have been driving everyday on the freeway. Now, everytime I go over a small bump or even the driveway the rear of the car makes a loud bang as if I had gone over a huge rock. The noise comes from the drivers side rear end. Is it the suspension? I have moved the car up and down and side to side and nothing happens. Its when I hit a bump. Please Help!

Hi, a friend at work has his sons vw corrado up for sale but isnt on the net and doesnt know what its worth so i said i would have a look around. Wonder if you guys could help in reccomending a price to adevrtise it?
Its a 1992 1.816v in canary yellow
approx 100k miles
Interior good for age, no rips/tears fag burns etc
No rust but not mint, has been stood in garage for around 12 months though still runs perfect (no smoke or rattles)
Has no tax or mot but he will get one if need be.
Have not viewed the car myself just going of what my friend has told me.
Would it be worth anything to an enthusiast as it is or would he be better of getting it taxed and mot'd and putting it in auto trader/ebay?

Oil/fuel filters and a wheel bearing kit going free cos of demise a while ago of my girlfriend's 1990 golf TD. I can't remember for absolutely definite that it was a 1.6 rather than 1.8 (but we often got overtaken by women pushing prams). Anyway, just in case they're any use to anyone, they are:

2 x Halfords HOF233

2 x Mann W940/25

2 x Hengst H70WK05

Wheel bearing kit no. 73674, replaces 191 598 625 (only does one wheel, includes stub seal & dust cap)

Should also be an air filter somewhere but I haven't found it yet.

All going free. To simplify things I'll pay the postage.

Subject: Problems with engine on beetle

I eventually got it turning over (which took a couple of minutes but seemed like forever!!), but everytime I had to stop at lights I had to keep my foot on the gas so it wouldn't cut out again.When I eventually got it home, everything in the engine bay looked fine, I left it for a couple of hours then started it up and white smoke came out the exhaust!! I've had a word with my Dad who seems to think I may have a blockage in the fuel line. Can anyone help!!??

Subject: 1970 beetle rear seatbelts

There are already holes for the centre stalk and top part of the seat belt, but I am missing one for the black box where the seat belt coils up into?! Will I have to drill a hole? and if so where? Can any one help me?!!!
